Summary
School is finally out for winter break, and Mike Wheeler is having a full-on crisis. Not only is he running into his “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man” more often than he would like or expect, but he's simultaneously having to endure the excruciating experience of falling in love with his best friend.
…Of course, there’s also the fact that said best friend and Spider-Man are the same person, but Mike’s still figuring that out.
To put it simply, this Christmas is bringing him nothing but a mental breakdown.(Essentially, Will is Spider-Man, and Mike has no idea. For now, at least.)

Summary
In the summer of the year 2002, Kate Sinclair overhears a late-night conversation between her parents about two of their closest friends, Mike Wheeler and Will Byers. Max talks excitedly about how Kate will be taking Will's incredible art class this upcoming school year, while Lucas reveals that he somehow managed to not only score Mike Wheeler a job, but that job also happens to be teaching English Literature in the exact same school as Will.
After learning how her parents dearly love the two and are simultaneously seriously upset with how long it's taken them to admit their feelings for one another, Kate makes it her goal for sixth grade to get Mike and Will together. How hard could it be?
aka Will is an Art teacher, Mike is an English teacher, who both somehow managed to end up in the same city, same school, despite keeping minimal contact after graduating college in 1993. They learn how to follow their hearts, with a little bit of help (and sometimes interference) from an extremely determined sixth-grader, who just so happens to be Lucas and Max's kid.

“He really does look like Mike,” Lucas breathes, as he gives Mike’s twin a scan, head to toe.
“Yeah, if Mike were way hotter and a knight?” Max chips in, and Will can vaguely hear Mike muttering again. “He looks so medieval, like he’s from Camelot or some shit.”
“I am Michael,” the knight begins to plead again. He turns his doe eyes back to Will, returning to his side like a diligent guard, even going as far as to reach out and take his hands. “Please, you have to believe me. I would never lie to you. Have I ever broken our oath? Let me prove it.”
Will was a bit preoccupied with gazing into the knight’s eyes, his cheeks flushing under the intense stare and the way his hands were held so gently. Mike had no issues ruining their moment.
“And he’s weirdly obsessed with Will.” Mike sounds even angrier than he did in the woods, and his sharp tone is enough for Will to snap out of his hand-holding to step a respectable distance away from the knight. “We need to send him back to wherever he came from.”

Mike the Brave ends up in Hawkins and sweeps Will off his feet. Mike has a lot of Feelings™ about it.

Spiderman’s fingers press a little firmly into Mike’s shirt. "Just – hang on!"
"What do you mean just hang – was that a pun," Mike sputters, clutching onto Spiderman for dear life as they swing through the city, and he can hear the superhero laugh through the racing wind in his ears, the rumble of it under Mike’s arm wrapped around his middle.
In a city of superheroes, Mike keeps running into Spiderman, much to his dismay.

Summary
Will smiles encouragingly at him, swiping his tears away and kissing his forehead again. "Let's make a deal, okay?" he murmurs, voice low and full of a bittersweet sort of hope. "If in five years we're both doing better, and we're not dating anyone else-" Mike blanches at the concept of dating anyone else, of Will dating anyone else- "we can try again, okay?"
Five years sounds like a terribly long time. In five years, Mike will be twenty-three. He'll be done with college, will have a career, could be living anywhere in the world for all he knows, and the same goes for Will.
But five years is a whole lot less than forever, so Mike will take it.
In the summer of 1989, Mike and Will fall apart. Five years later, they fall back together.

The first time it happens, Will classifies it as a little accident.
When he wakes, the morning sun is burning through the window onto their faces, and Mike’s cursing as he stands to close the curtains, stumbling all the way.
“Scoot over,” he grumbles, voice dry, and for a second Will can’t do anything other than sigh like a lovesick idiot. It’s a second too late for Mike, because he grumbles more words Will doesn’t catch under his breath and then physically pushes Will towards the wall to lay beside him, arm over Will’s middle. A second of silence passes, then Mike sighs, only to whine: “Fuck, my head hurts.”
Will can’t help it: he breaks down laughing, much to Mike’s offense.
