Something was pulling on the ship- heck, something was pulling on him! It was suddenly hard to hold on as the unknown force tugged the entire rig forward. Looking around wildly, Grace’s stomach dropped. Inky blackness spread out in front of him as far as he could see, void of any of the points of light he had been previously using to navigate.

Waking up in a tub of blood wasn't something anyone who was sane would expect to happen to them and Simon was no exception to that.
Then finding out he was chained inside a locked room by what was possibly a serial killer just made the situation worse.
Even the other guy who was in the same boat as him didn't make the situation any better. Even if he was kind of cute.

Then, a heavily-chromed mercenary named Simon smashed through the door to retrieve him—only for a stray bullet to shatter an experimental vial of Metaheme directly into Grace's open wound.
Now, Simon’s fifty-thousand-eddie extraction contract is burned, Grace can run nearly 40mph down a wet Watson sidewalk, and BioTechnica has put a half-million eddie hit on his bone marrow.
With seventy-two hours before the volatile Metaheme explodes his heart, Grace and a local ripperdoc figure out how to synthesize a stabilizing agent from scratch. Technically The Gray Man 2...Six has been a runner for quite some time.
It's been 4 months.
4 months since he kidnapped Claire.
4 months of hiding, moving around the United States while capturing any more evidence, trying to take Carmichael down again, like how Four tried to do before Six killed him.
He wished…
He wished he could see his brothers again after 18 years since he had seen them, maybe after he got Claire a proper family that could look after her for her heart conditions, or maybe, if he could, he wanted to adopt her as his own.
What about Claire’s pacemaker? Well, Six never visits a hospital twice, because each visit, the CIA picks up which hospital they are in as quickly as he and Claire get away again.
Meanwhile, Carmichael can’t stop glaring at Suzanne for not killing Six on the spot, just because Six is too good at his job and he, as Carmichael air-quoted, is the best asset CIA ever had than MI6’s best.

Grace kept running, using frantic energy he had never felt before. He was sure if he just ran long enough, he would escape.
Suddenly the trees ended and he was running through a meadow. The ground flattened and Grace ran faster, each breath burning in his throat as he chased his freedom.
Something hit his back. He fell to the ground, the shock of it bringing tears to his eyes.
Hands grabbed his arms, yanking them behind him. He twisted, crying out as he tried to get free, but he was no match for the weight pinning him down.
He twisted his head to look up as Simon pulled a needle out of his pocket, pulling the cap off with his teeth and spitting it to the side. His gaze was cold, determined.
“Please,” Grace begged. “Please, don’t do this Simon!”
“I’m sorry,” the man said. “I have to.”
He plunged the needle into Grace’s neck.
In other words, Simon learns that Grace is getting sent on the Hail Mary and he makes the most selfish decision possible: saving Grace himself.
