To make their own decisions with nothing more than some minor advice and a helping hand if requested. Naturally, Kris was interested. And that's why they woke up on Thursday morning, remembering two days that technically hadn't happened yet.
Messing with the code can be delicate work. Do the wrong thing at the wrong time, and the bridge might just break. Or change fundamentally.

It’s a strange thing, doing music with Pearl. It just works. Two equals sitting down next to each other, pulling together harmonies and covering each other’s screw ups with barely any hiccups—and that was with so little practice. She can’t imagine what they’d be able to pull off with more time, with her whole setup at home, with songs that they actually care about.
“Course I’ll be with you.” Pearl’s voice is forceful, almost offended. “I’d never leave ya high and dry—”
“It’s gonna be fine then,” Marina cuts in, holding out a hand. “Together.”
“Together,” Pearl agrees, and smacks her palm into Marina’s.

When Pure Vanilla throws open the balcony doors and holds his staff aloft, the first thing he sees are the tree’s branches devoid of his feathered friends. It’s an unwelcome sight, a clear departure from their usual routine. Had something happened? Has someone drawn them away?
A flutter of movement draws his eyes upwards towards the roof; instantly, relief floods through Pure Vanilla’s jam. The flock is mercifully still here, perched above his head on a nearby rooftop. They are, however, strangely silent and still, huddled closely together while glancing between Pure Vanilla and the tree. Pure Vanilla follows their nervous gaze, peering into the branches as he holds his staff high –

Ever since he had ‘defeated’ him, everyone praised him for being a ‘hero’ but he didn’t feel like one. He had received gifts, compliments, requests and, of course, the occasional insult but no one stopped to talk, truly talk to him. Pure Vanilla’s thoughts began to engulf him, silencing the world around him. Bleat. Pulling out his wallowing, worried cries echoed through the soft meadows. “Hm?” He swivelled around listening out for the origin of the sound. Bleat.

Summary
After Disassembly Drones and Worker Drones become friends, the starving Disassembly Drones find less and less oil to satiate themselves, causing them to slowly die off.
N, during a particularly long hunt, attempts to repair himself as his worn out hardware gives him warnings left and right, but before he can, badly injures himself. The timing couldn't be worse as he feels the effects of an onset oil craze. At a loss for what to do next, he makes the spontaneous decision to visit Uzi at the colony, who he hasn't seen in about a month.
Upon meeting her, he asks if she can help him repair himself... what could go wrong?
