Summary
Most Hybrids knew that being arrested was the beginning of the end. Even after they had served their sentence, there was still the 'Hybrid Reintegration Program' to endure.
A program supposedly meant to aid these Hybrids in their transition back to society, in actually, it was, at best, a broken system that led to most Hybrids either rebelling and being stuck in the program for decades, or submitting and allowing themselves to conform to human culture.
Four new Hybrid 'apprentices' were set to join Hermitcraft, a rehab server renown for only taking the most difficult cases. At that point, if they failed and were sent back, their chances of ever going home again were slim to none. Hermitcraft was their last chance.
Or...
Pearl, Gem, Joel, and Skizz are traumatized, each in their own way, and have no idea what to do with the kindness shown to them in Hermitcraft.

Scar doesn’t even try to hide the surprise and confusion in his words. Staring at Cub with both eyebrows raised to his hairline.
“I thought hybrid zoos were deemed too dangerous for the public.” Scar waves a hand over in the vague direction of the zoo exhibits they do have. “Not to mention we were never intended to be that kind of zoo, why us?”
Scar was just a humble zookeeper, he wasn't prepared to deal with this pesky bird that seems much more intelligent than everyone says he should be, but he isn't one to turn down an animal in need. Grian is just happy to be somewhere where he can lay on something soft, even if the humans are weird at this facility. Especially that scarred one.

Avid’s stomach drops.
“A pet?!” The rattling of chains echoes down the hall, “What do you mean a pet?!”
“You know,” Scott’s voice is worryingly casual, “–like an animal you keep around, and give food, and keep alive. Well I generally wasn’t the one doing that part, but eh, I’m sure I could figure it out–”
“I’m a person! You can’t just–”
“Well,” Scott interrupts him again, “–being honest humans are already kind of animals compared to vampires–and factoring in the whole werewolf thing you’re not even really sentient half the time. But hey, look on the bright side! I’m not going to kill you, and I plan to keep you in very good condition over the next century. You’ll get food, and water, and shelter, and other things humans like, it’ll be great!”
Avid sits there in stunned silence, not even really knowing how to respond to that.

The figure’s hood fell off when they jumped, revealing a man with scruffy blonde hair that came down to his shoulders and a small scar just below his right eye. He walked using a gold topped cane, and his eyes glittered with mischief. He had an excited grin on his face that revealed his long, sharp fangs, and each of his fingers ended with a pointed claw that looked like it could cut through skin like butter. He stood over the other human, leaning forward into her space and examining her thoroughly.
“Would you look at that!” The man’s voice sounded surprisingly normal considering his supernatural appearance, like an overexcited child who’d been given a new toy. “Living humans, just for us!”
Or: Apo and Cleo are sacrificed to the vampire coven and Cherri and Martyn hold them up like stray kittens and go “pretty please can we keep them?”
