Summary
Family does not have to be blood, and Natsu knows this. He loves Fairy Tail, but at end of the day his Blood needs help. Zeref never got a second chance, unlike Natsu. And Natsu will make damn sure he gets his chance to truly live. Not this forever hell between being alive and dead. So while he wants to horde everyone he loves into somewhere safe, he has to make a decision between both families.
Story will jump timelines.
(Finally writing this story after hyper-fixating on this topic since before the manga even outed Zeref as Natsu's brother. Give thanks to all the recent Natsu & Zeref fics that have been coming out because it gave motivation for me to finally write this).

When he does find them, he in fact finds more than just a teacher.
A reunion he never thought possible, never even dared to imagine because it simply hurt too much — but he's not the only one in pain, and seeing the extent of his childhood friends suffering terrifies him.

“We are both stuck on this ship until we make it to land,” the blond points out. “Besides, I already told you. I could take you on with my pink finger.”
Ace sticks his tongue out. “I bet even Luffy could take you on, and he is a weak crybaby.”
That elicits a laugh from not-Sabo, and it has Ace reeling with delight. And oh, he is a little fucked, isn’t he? Even if this stranger is not Sabo, even if it is just his face and his actions and his stupid propensity to get under Ace’s skin, Ace could never raise a weapon against him and actually intend to kill.
It’s not Spy-san, but rather he who has gotten too comfortable.

Ace and Sabo meet before Marineford. Along the way, they fight some bad guys, liberate a nation, and finally find their way back to each other.

Luffy wasn't Roger's child, and she wasn't a revolutionary, either. She was the granddaughter of a marine, grew up on an island in the middle of the weakest sea, and couldn't think anything through. She wasn't Ace, with his brash drive to prove himself, and she wasn't Sabo, with his wit, and she didn't have the snark of either of them. Still, though, she was larger than life in her own way.
Luffy smiled brighter than the sun, and her heart was bigger than a giants, and she only ever saw things for how they were. She had saved Ace when he needed her, and she never let Sabo live thinking he didn't have a family, and if there was anyone who could become the Pirate King, Shanks thought it would be her. Hopefully, Roger would be proud of the person he bet the future on.
Or: Luffy's now the older sibling, and a few things change because of it
