“Jim!” Spock hisses, turning to look at this bondmate with visible surprise.
“What?” Jim replies, all innocence, even as his hand trails slowly up the Vulcan’s thigh. From the back, the movement is totally innocent; the drape of the knee length dress concealing the way that it’s hiked around Jim’s wrist in the front. “I’m admiring the dress.”

Jim lifts his and Spock’s arms into view of the camera. “Yes ma’am.”
“Really?” The Admiral says in a tone of unabashed curiosity.
“I can assure you, ma’am, we are not doing this for recreational purposes.” Spock says dryly.
...
Or the one in which Jim gets hit with Sex Pollen TM, but Spock doesn't like his consent dubious so politely declines.
Luckily, that crisis is averted. Unluckily, Jim and Spock realize they have been left unable to go without touching for more than a few minutes without excruciating pain. Armed with research into socio-sexual behaviours and a list of expected next steps, he initiates what he expects to be a less-than-one-month casual sexual relationship, based on the averages he's observed with Jim's previous flings. They had breathed the same cold air in that one room, and all but tripped over each other with every movement.* * *
Which is to say, Edith Keeler had to die, so now Jim can't sleep alone, and Spock doesn't really understand grieving humans, but he's pretty sure it's inappropriate to express romantic interest in Jim while he's still mourning someone else, which would all be a lot easier if Jim weren't in his bed, wouldn't it?

It was like nothing Kirk had ever seen before -he was like nothing Kirk had ever seen before- and oh, the universe was so kind and so cruel to do this to him, to let him wake up with Spock for the first time but not in the way he wanted to.

When Jim Kirk moved back home to Iowa and took the ED nurse job recommended by his friend McCoy, he was expecting it to be a calm change of pace from his old urban hospital. Instead, it's the same shit, just with crappier equipment and a smaller staff. His fellow nurses are great, thankfully, and the lab tech on the other end of the phone has a particularly nice voice.
Spock, former Chemistry technical specialist and perpetual night shift lead, prefers to focus on his work without interruption. Constantly calling critical results to the floor is inconvenient, especially when the new ED charge nurse has such a pleasant laugh.
Hospital AU, featuring flirting over the Vocera, needlessly detailed medical jargon, and a disgusting amount of love paid to the lab staff.

Of course. Of course he fucking does. Because life couldn’t possibly only be cruel enough to deposit at Jim’s side the most intelligent, incandescent, and attractive man from here to the end of the universe - couldn’t simply make that same man loyal to a fault or attuned to Jim’s every move - on top of it all, life just had to drive Jim’s head into that same fumbling brick wall every single time. He can’t even be angry at himself, only disappointed. Jim should have known that what is most important to him could only ever have been Spock.

"You can ask her yourself, soon enough," McCoy grinned at him, his slightly crooked teeth and handsome face utterly charming. "C'mon, old boy, we have to fetch the water."
They picked up their jugs and made their way along the silvery path. The old fortress loomed larger ahead of them, perched on a cliff that hid a rare natural spring behind stone walls. They passed through the gate into a garden. It was a startling transition that Kirk had experienced on Earth in places like Palestine and Egypt when he traveled in his youth, the arid landscape suddenly bursting with life. Alien palms towered over them, filtering the red light of the night sky through blue-green leaves. Smells of fresh water and sweet flowers filled Kirk's lungs. His skin began to tingle with excitement.
Spock, he thought to himself. I'm going to marry an alien named Spock.

The stakes are far too high.
ORAdmitting to each other that they are in love is not an issue. The problem is revealing it to everyone else.
