A bright, kindhearted detective joins the force after the forceful retirement of her father. Charlie Starr's probably achieved the highlight of her career in catching the cannibalistic serial killer that's been tormenting Pentagram City, Alastor Melancon, but that's not really where her heart lies. Her passion is to help people, not punish criminals. Her heart is the only thing keeping her from falling into the jadedness the rest of the force has.
Up until Alastor escapes prison to continue his reign of terror once more--and for better or worse, that big-hearted detective so deadset on catching up to him has caught his eye. He's not sure if this is a romance, or a long-running game of cat and mouse--but either way, it's the most fun he's had in years, and he refuses to let it come to an end.

Set in modern day New Orleans, Louisiana. Alastor owns a restaurant known as ‘By the Bayou’ as a chef. A tasteful jazz inspired lounge and restaurant, there is always a live band playing the sweet sounds of the 1920s to set the mood. Although he would never sully his mothers recipes, he does cater to a special clientele with different tastes. By day he is Alastor Dubois, talented chef and owner, by night he is the infamous serial killer “The Butcher”. Charlotte Magne was or rather still is a student at the Culinary Institute of America for Baking and Pastry Arts with a minor in Hospitality Management. She was excelling in her program until circumstances needed her to step away for a time the being. Once she can go back to New York to finish up her degree she will but until then her parents sent her to Louisiana with her friends Vaggie and Angel to have some fun while they handle the situation at home. However, Charlotte, who prefers to go by Charlie, believes the whole “Idle hands make work for the devil” and wants to get a job while on vacation.

Only those who were hidden in bunkers deep underground managed to stay alive. The contamination caused by the explosions corrupted the living beings, making it extremely difficult to live on the ground without getting infected.
Hundreds of years after the war, the situation finally began to settle, and people built colonies on the ground to farm and live. You and your brother were one of the people living underground, until you finally decided to leave and embark on a journey to become hunters yourself.

He call smell it: the distinct scent of blood. When he approaches the source, he comes across the dead bodies of what looks like knights of sorts. Where's the woman and the bleeding horses? He can smell those too. He follows the tracks of what seems to be a four-wheeled carriage, and those tracks lead straight down a shallow cliff. Down there, the horses are slowly dying, and inside the upturned carriage, he finds an unconscious young lady, dressed in white. He can't tell if that's a wedding dress or some religious garnment, but what he can tell is that she's alive and breathing, and real fucking pretty too.

Although, your mother always says that you are not allowed to talk with hunters. At the beginning, you didn’t really understand why. It just was a tradition, a saying between every woman and her daughter. Hunters used to serve the Crown, they couldn’t have the mentality of a hawk. But when you met one, particularly dangerous hunter something changed. This one, with a hood throwed on his head, looked like Death himself. And soon you understood why you were not allowed to talk with them. And soon, when he was seeing you as his perfect soon-to-be bride, you understood why mothers are guarding their daughters against hunters.
