Michael pulls him closer by the throat, leaning down to run that long and hideous tongue along the shell of Jon's ear, “Go back to your friends. Tell them you’re tired and wish to go home. Don’t let either of them follow you out the front door.”
Jon gasps at the feeling of teeth grazing his ear and he whimpers, shaking like a leaf in the monster’s grasp, “A-and if I don't?”
“What a stupid question,” Michael murmurs, leaning back to gaze at him with a smirk that's far meaner than any look he's given Jon so far. “I don't think you want to find out what happens if you disobey me, Archivist. Don't tempt your fate. I'm giving you a chance to show me that you can be good for me. It would benefit you greatly to assure me of this.”

Tim almost can't believe this is his life. Ghosts and evil fear gods and malicious mannequin clowns. “A ghost bullet, then? That's what you're telling me?”
“Yes.”
“And how did you figure that out?”
“I just…Knew it.”
Right. Of course. Tim shouldn't be surprised by that at all. “Okay. A ghost bullet-”
“Of the Slaughter,” Jon cuts in quickly. “It was feeding off of her fear and anxiety. Making her…anger more pronounced.”
“What did she say when you told her?”
Jon averts his gaze with that guilty, awkward half smile Tim is far too familiar with. He brings a hand up to bite the side of his thumb, one of his usual stims, and Tim lets him, the weight of Jon's nervous silence settling over him. He does, of course, keep an eye out to make sure Jon doesn’t bite himself too hard.
“Oh my god,” Tim rubs a hand over his face. “You didn't tell her?”

Summary
He says nothing. Basira also says nothing. They stay like this for a solid two minutes while Tim sips at his second cup of tea, feeling her eyes boring into him from across the break room. It's a little annoying, actually.
Finally, Tim sighs as he takes another sip from his cup before asking, “Can I help you with something, Basira?”
He doesn't know Basira very well. Before The Unknowing he had made it a point to not know her simply because of her close proximity to Daisy. He never wanted to get to know Daisy after her threats and rotten attitude had left a bad taste in his mouth and, while Basira had originally been fairly kind to deal with, her dismissal of her partner's behavior made her just as rotten to be around in Tim's opinion.
Basira eyes him from where she is, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed. She’s watching him with those analytical brown eyes, and Tim isn’t really sure where this conversation is about to go but he can, at least, tell that he wasn’t going to like it much. Basira sighs, “So, you and Jon?”

Summary
All things considered, Tim expected to be dead by now. There had been no real version of their plan, of stopping The Unknowing, that existed in his head that resulted in him walking out, alive and well. He had expected to die. It shouldn’t have surprised him that The Desolation had taken a keen interest in him.
It does surprise him, though, to find how much clarity it gives him in regard to Jon.

So, late one night after patrol, when his brothers tease his slight Arab accent, he thinks there's something wrong with him. Suddenly aware and growing insecure of his accent leads him to grow insecure of his skin, leading him to grow insecure of his weight, leading him down a spiral. He needs to be perfect. His purpose, his role in life, has lessened to something so mind numbingly simple and domestic he wants to do nothing else. He’s mated to the Tsahik, contained to her yurt where he waits for her, is fed by her, watered by her, and has little existence outside of her.

Jon grinds his teeth. That’s it. That’s all. He grinds his teeth, and he clenches his jaw, and sometimes, when he calls Tim into his office to ask him something, he’ll prop an elbow against his desk and lean to the side and dig his fingers into one of his temples and rub little circles there. Slowly, like he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, and with a faint crease between his eyebrows. Tim’s libido, finally back to its pre-escitalopram levels, apparently finds this very interesting. Something about all that wound-up tension, maybe. Or the fact that, if Tim were a braver and stupider man, he could lean across Jon’s desk, cup his face, pull him forward, just a bit, and then gently, gently, work all that stress out of him with his tongue. Leave him with his eyes half-shut, lips parted, and watch as he sank down in that stupid high-backed chair all boneless and soft, breathing evenly for what’s probably the first time in weeks. Relaxed. Maybe up for getting blown.
Jon's mouth hurts, and Tim can't keep his shut.
