Shane wanted to walk in the light with Ilya by his side, hand in hand, but a reality where they could be friends publicly felt light years away, one where they would be accepted as lovers and respected as hockey players simultaneously felt even further. Shane couldn’t lose everything he had worked so hard to cultivate, the brand he had built in spite of everything working against him.

Shane leaned into him with his arms hugged around Rozanov’s neck, head resting in the crook of his shoulder. He was the provider and the main client, which meant Shane had to perform neatly.
