“My flight is early tomorrow,” Rozanov says. He bites his lip. Shane’s eyes stick there too. “You look in hallway, yes?”
Shane sticks his head out. The hallway is empty.
Would it hurt? To go another round? Rozanov has to fly out early anyway, it’s hardly like they’ll be spending time befriending each other. What is one night, when they’ve already crossed the line with eyes wide open?
“Shit,” he says. “There’s a couple at the end of the hallway, arguing, you know? You better wait until they leave.”
OR
Shane lies, that first night, to keep Rozanov to himself a little longer. The changes spiral out from there.

“What are you talking about?” Shane asks, clearly not picking up any hints. Hayden sighs.
“Never mind, let’s go to practice,” he grumbles, resolving to try again later.

Scott Goldsmith was an insufferable prick, only coming to the cafe when Avid was working, and only ever ordering one of the most expensive drinks on the menu. Iced latte, almond milk, creamer. And it wasn’t like Avid had chosen to memorize it, needing to make the stupid drink every day he worked had drilled it into his head.
“I assume your usual order.” Avid noted, tone stiff, not the professional kind, but in the manner that displayed audibly how much he disliked the other man.
“That would be lovely.” Scott replied in that smooth accent.
He never did catch onto the disdain in Avid’s voice, if he did, he didn’t care.

Summary
Something in Scott's eyes tightened. The vampire took another half step forward, more than ever looking like he was holding something in deep inside.
"The animals are dying," Scott spelled out. "We can't feed off of them anymore."
Avid furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, before it hit. His mouth gaped open as fear struck a chord inside him and sent shivers running down his spine.
There were no more animals. The vampires were out of food.

Avid is a vampire hunter. Scott is a vampire. Obviously both hate the other from the start. But strange things happen in the woods of Oakhurst. After unlikely circumstances bring the two closer (in more ways than one), their rivalries start to unravel.
Maybe Scott isn't such a bloodthirsty monster, and can even be pretty nice sometimes--and maybe he's hot, but that's a different topic. Maybe Avid isn't such an annoying nuisance, but someone with unexpected depths and personality (having a pretty face certainly helps).
Maybe the two who've been fated to be against each other since the beginning don't have to be enemies. Just maybe.OR
Scott + Avid are gay for each other, and Scott has trauma now (his backstory wasn't sad enough)

Though Avid really can't stay away from Oakhurst for long when realizes that it hasn't been too long since he was staked especially when there is still the chance that some of the people he cared about there are still alive. And maybe if they still are then they'll know about what he and Elle are now.
