Summary
In addition to his long list of mental health issues, Jim has a whole host of physical problems too. This is the first episode since they met in which Jim is chronically unwell, and Leonard is starting to suspect that the illness is deeply connected to the same trauma. Cue Leonard at his doctory/Jim's best friend/protective best.

Summary
This follows Jim and Leonard from their first meeting on the shuttle from Riverside through to about six weeks in to their first year, and tracks the development of their friendship (and the underlying attraction) as they get to know each other. Leonard suspects Jim hasn't had an easy life. Turns out, he's absolutely right, and Jim only copes so far.
Jim....Well Jim just wants to reach out. And he's awful at it.

Some time after Face, Murdock, and the team in general have been getting to grips with Murdock's illness, Murdock experiences a horrific incidence of self-harm. A distraught Face struggles to cope in the midst of their worst emergency yet.

After they acquire their new pilot from a mental institution, it takes Face - conman extraordinaire who relies heavily on being able to read people immediately and use it to his advantage - some time to get to grips with who Murdock is. The person he discovers is quite possibly the best human being he's ever met, however much care Murdock might need sometimes (and often because of it). Face considers five qualities about Murdock that make him who he is, as he comes to know and love his best friend.

Bones and Jim have always had a physical relationship - both the one that everyone sees.....and one that they don't. Except for they have never actually slept together, and, having finally had some time away in which they can admit things to each other and themselves, the moment has arrived. And Leonard realises that Jim has always, in so many ways, been his all along; that for some mad, unknown reason, the universe gave him to him a long time ago.

Summary
Jim has been rescued from a mission gone terribly wrong, in which the captors tortured him in unknown ways, about things that even Jim's closest crew members could not even begin to imagine. In the erupting chaos around them, Spock and Bones come to realise that Jim's greatest hope for recovery is for Spock to do what only he is capable of, and go with Jim wherever it is in his mind that is causing such trauma. In order for that to happen however, Bones must keep Jim alive - and prevent this increasingly horrific situation from destroying them all, quite literally, from the inside out.

While Jim lies desperately ill, and while Bones keeps his almost constant vigil, Nyota joins him for a late night bottle of whiskey, and encourages him to open up about something she has suspected for a long time about his and Jim's relationship.

Summary
Face was often woken by Murdock creeping into bed with him. Usually silently, pressing slowly closer and closer into his back or his side, needing the contact, the unspoken protection from whatever it was that was coming for him. Sometimes, it wasn’t even for those reasons. Sometimes it was just because he wanted a cuddle. Face could always tell, without even opening an eye, which it was.
Sometimes, though, even Face cannot fathom the terrible depths of Murdock's suffering. Even though he knows he is the one to rescue him.

It was only a matter of time before Bones found out. Or, rather, that he admitted to himself what he'd suspected all along. Except for that admittance was helped along by the fact that Jim and Spock have both disappeared off the face of....well, all of the planets, and Bones really would rather have not had to deal with this situation, which escalates rapidly into what is DEFINITELY TOO MUCH INFORMATION.
Because we love Bones because he loves Jim and because he reluctantly loves Spock because Jim loves Spock and Spock loves Jim, and because Bones would rather just hypo everyone into next light-year, mug Scotty, and have a quiet evening with the whiskey, thank you very much.

Jim has been ill in sickbay for some time, and on the rare occasion that Bones is absent, the medical team reliably do their utmost to respond to every flicker and beep of the biobed alerts. But it is the middle of the night, and whereas Bones has been getting up with Jim all night every night, this time he decides on a different remedy. Cue gruff Bones with heart of gold.

"He wanted to laugh. He wanted to weep. His body was threatening to do both. He couldn’t swallow. He couldn’t catch his breath. Funny, given the echo of a certain similar position of a few years ago. Again, certain he was going to actually kill him. And in this utterly fucking wonderful and unbelievable state, he would have gone gladly".
A standard sort of argument has brought Spock and Jim to the edge of something both of them have always wanted. Spock closes the last bit of space between them, and in Spock's hands Jim comes entirely undone.

Summary
While going through a particularly bad patch with his mental health, and while undergoing a med-change, Murdock has a serious self-harm episode. Face, whose entire life revolves around Murdock and his safety, finds him, and is both devastated and terrified. As the team calls in Richter, and Richter, Hannibal, and BA work to pull Murdock out of the woods, Face holds Murdock, and in his desperate attempts to keep him with him, goes to something they have used a few times - a certain Southern song, taught to him years ago by Murdock himself, at the very start of their relationship.
