It's been fifteen years since Arceus pulled Akari through the rift. She has fully adjusted to her life in Hisui, but little things make her think of her old life and leave her feeling anguished and bitter. She's also been pining over Adaman since she was fifteen, but he hasn't noticed.
During one of the annual festivals put on by the clans, Akari is hit with a strong wave of anguish when she sees a group of small children playing and finds she can't keep it together. She tries to leave, only for Adaman to follow her and try to give her comfort she isn't remotely prepared for.
