The cold was unbearable, so you decided to wake him up to join him under the blanket, only to find him coming out of what seemed like an intense wet dream... with you in it. You decided to see just how much you could tease him to get him to break, making his dream a reality, but you didn't know what exactly you were getting yourself into- not that you weren't pleasantly surprised.

All you wanted was to rent a room. That was it. Just somewhere cheap to sleep and live while you got through college.
Turns out, the housing market is ruthless.
An old mansion, tucked away from civilization, where every door hid a different resident—and almost all of them looked like they had crawled straight out of a nightmare. Psychopaths whose faces had probably appeared on a WANTED poster at some point, creatures that defied all logic, monsters wrapped in urban legends and rumors. The kind of people any sane person would run from without looking back.
But you were desperate.
And honestly, when the rent is that cheap, you can overlook the fact that your neighbor might be a serial killer or some supernatural entity. At the very least, the house seemed to have some sense of order. There was a tall man, always impeccably dressed in a black suit, who managed the mansion and was always available whenever you needed him.

Had you been a spectator or simply not been out of your senses, the gory sight would have put you off. You’d dug into your flesh so deep, red droplets had been forming tiny pools on the pale marble floor of your kitchen, several layers of coagulated blood gathering underneath your fingernails.
Yet the only sensation you could focus on was the utter fucking misery. The heavy weight in your stomach, the beast inside your chest that was massaging its fangs into your lungs as you choked out a raw sob. The passive sensation of your stinging wounds was the only thing stopping it from tightening its grip, the only thing that could drown out any of the feelings and emotions swirling through your organs.
Perhaps you could have gone on like this for hours, almost as if you were entranced, had you been left undisturbed. But you were not alone. You are not uncared for.

No matter how hard you try, you cannot get that soulless blue mask out of your mind. With its head turned towards you, it only held its boney finger to its mask in a hushed manner before it ran off. You knew you had to keep quiet, but was it really the right choice?
