Sam and Max were designed by destiny (and the series creator) to be together, forever and ever. Not even death or alternate timelines seem capable in keeping them apart... Except in one universe, where an impromptu move to Alaska by Sam's family during their childhood keep them separated for decades. All until one kid unintentionally reunites them, and The Commissioner offers Max a way out of prison.

The oppressive weight of their attacker knocked a few of the rats out, but it only served to trigger Max's fight response. He twisted around and buried his overgrown and sharpened claws into his assailant's torso, hoping the pain alone would cause the creature to give him enough room for an escape. If push came to shove, he'd use his razor sharp fangs to bite at the behemoth who had him practically pinned on the ground… At least, that's what he would have done had the scent of the dog-man on top of him hadn't finally been recognized.
With wide eyes and a twitching nose Max looked up at the shockingly familiar face of a long forgotten friend and shouted, "Sam!?"
