Summary
Peter figures he owes Miguel if nothing else. For giving him some kind of sense of direction and purpose again. So, does sidling up to him out of the blue and telling him, "Oh, hey, guess who I saw this weekend in an alternate universe? Yourdeaddaughterumokaybye" count as doing something for him? Or was that just more trauma? Trauma by way of buy-one-get-one-free, he thinks.
And he’s pointedly not going to think about the way he also kind of wants to open that wound. To pull back two curtains of flesh and finally take a look around inside Miguel’s chest. What else is in there, outside of shattering loss? A man or just an assemblage of pain?

Miguel wants to say it more elegantly—professionally—but he can only squeeze those two words out as rain pours over his head, down his face, and onto the soggy welcome mat he’s standing on. Mary Jane Watson-Parker of 616B has bright blue eyes that speak as clearly as words.
She’s standing until she’s not. She slumps against the door frame. She’s saying without vocalizing the words: ‘Spider-Man gets hurt. I know that. But if you’re here—then Peter is more hurt than usual. You, being on my doorstep, is a terrible omen, and I don’t know whether I should break down in tears or scream,’ but she’s not saying a word. Now Miguel is stuck on an alien planet with four children, no medication, zero contact with the outside world, and rapidly thinning patience.
“Mierda,” Miguel decides.
“Yeah,” Miles groans, sprawling out on the floor. “That about sums it up.”
When he’s stranded in an alien universe, Miguel has to keep his spiderkids safe and find a way back home—all while enduring the damning concequences of withdrawal from the drug genetically coded into him.

Heck, even having Mayday got me scared, too, right?" Peter laughed, sounding surprised even with himself. "Listen, what I'm trying to say is... you should come. I know you. We're all fighting for the same thing."
There was a magic about being given a Peter Parker pep talk. Something about it that couldn't help but annoy Miguel, but comfort him all the same. Being alone was fucked. It ruined a person with the lack of objectivity, without a shoulder to lean on, without someone else to inspire hope instead of forcing himself to try to live without it.

And then Parker’s finger hooks over his teeth, his mouth twitching into an exasperated smile. Miguel freezes, eyes wide as Peter doesn’t pull away, shaking Miguel’s head with the finger caught behind his teeth, sighing as if in disappointment. Like he’s holding the teeth of a large predator and is completely unfazed by it.
