To find a way to stay with the SGC, he indulges his more hidden skills and earns a PhD in Computer Science with an expertise in Ancient Systems. The SGC sorts him to Atlantis where one John Sheppard is still... John Sheppard. Because Sheppard and Mitchell are both pilots, the titles come from aviation rules, and because Sheppard is Sheppard, Cam is dealing with low-visibility operations.
