Zanka didn’t know what to make of Fu Orostor.
He had trailed in after Enjin one day, trembling and hunched over, clutching that doll of his in a white-knuckled grip. Zanka had noticed him, of course. It was hard not to, with the way that he stuck out in his Raider uniform at Headquarters. But Enjin had said that he should be harmless, so he hadn’t paid him any mind. Until he caught wind of his feats on the road against the Raiders, that is.
It was hard to imagine Fu — meek, shaky, short-for-their-age Fu — being the same person who had won against Jabber so easily.
The thought makes something hot and heavy settle in his gut. There’s the usual envy-frustration-indignity, but there’s something else that Zanka can’t name.
And so, Zanka finds himself… watching.

Fu had always believed in demons.
Of course he had. He had made a pact with one years ago to save the shattered pile that was his life. Clinging to something that would take all responsibility from him and make his life easier.He forgot about those fully white eyes that stared into your soul and consumed you whole, the longer you stared back. Forgot about the fully dark red hair, that looked more like blood was covering it, then the more softer tone Fu had. He forgot about the lanky arms and legs, that looked just a little too long to be from a normal human being. The ashy tone under his skin.

Kyouka knew the signs. She learned from going through it, saw it again with Goka, and now she was seeing it with Zanka.
She knew what would happen if it were known, if Zanka returned with that stick of his. His flame would run out of fuel, extinguished in a matter of seconds.
So, she did the only thing she knew would save him- even if that meant letting him leave with the Cleaner’s charlatan.

Enjin and the other Cleaners go to the Kamuatari district for a joint mission with the Hell guard and also to renew their alliance (fancy dinner). But during all this Enjin gets caught up in some bs, because little Zanka gets kidnapped, so he, Gris, Kyouka and some of her Hell guard squad members have to save him while the others work on the actual misson.

Zanka should have known that a letter from his family could only mean disaster. He knew it the moment he saw the pristine Nijiku seal, but what good was that knowledge when he had to open it anyway?
Worse, he had to open it in front of Semiu, Corvus, Enjin THE Enjin Riyo, and even that stupid Spherite. Semiu knew exactly what he would do once he read the contents: burn the letter and pretend it had never arrived. So she forced him to read it out loud.
The message was simple.
The Nijiku family wanted him back.
While the others immediately refused to let him go, Zanka was the only one who truly understood what that meant. If his family had decided to reclaim him, there would be no hiding, no escaping, and no fighting his way out of it.
As panic closed around his throat and his carefully built life began to crumble, Zanka realized one terrifying truth
he was already cooked.

“Yea'! I promise!” He had chirped, and Kyouka—serius, formidable, untouchable Kyouka—had smiled down at him, running a hand through his hair to tuck it behind his ear and then, to Zanka's absolute shock, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

Zanka has never been a particularly "stable" guy. Anyone who's seen him after losing a battle knows that much.
Though, not even he could remember the last time it had been this bad. He can barely bring himself to drag his shell of a body out of his room and train Rudo. That kid had far too much potential, so much that Zanka didn't believe he could hone it on his own, and he thinks he ought to just transfer him over to someone else to train him.
After losing to Jabber, so brutally, it had really tortured his ego.
Rudo, has come to notice Zanka's behavior once his training sessions begin slowing down. Seeing Zanka like this is something new, to Rudo, anyway.
