Chuuya’s mouth opened. Closed. He looked furious at the universe.
Dazai, very carefully, did not let his voice shake. “I’ll go.”
“Dazai—”
Dazai stepped back. His body felt far away. Like he was watching himself from the ceiling. Like he was moving through water.
He had, somewhere in his coat pocket, a folded piece of paper—a card he’d made because the etiquette guide said cards were traditional and because the idea of giving Chuuya something felt like leaving a small, secret piece of himself somewhere safer than his own skin.
He did not take it out.

"If he felt confused before, it was nothing compared to the shock he felt after hearing that statement. Framing the truth to paint Chuuya in a more favorable light was one thing. Outright lying to Mori was another altogether. He couldn’t wrap his head around why Dazai would do the former, let alone the latter.
Just as he was finally getting his mind back to him, he was dismissed. Chuuya hesitates long enough to call into question if he’s about to disobey a direct order from the Boss. He just needs to catch Dazai’s eye. He needs to see. This is difficult, as Dazai is looking anywhere but at him. However, his not leaving the room does make one unbandaged eye swing over at him.
'Go on ahead, be a good dog and wait outside while the adults talk.' Dazai looks away from him again, and Chuuya doesn’t have the mental energy to protest being called a dog, or comment on Dazai being younger than him. He just turns and walks out of the office, completely numb."

Michael Wheeler had always known he was going to die in Hawkins. His grandfather had, his great grandfather had, the grandfather before that whose name he didn't even know had, and so on and so forth. When the Upside Down opened up, his first thought wasn’t that he was afraid of death. It was that at least this way he wasn't going to die alone. He was going to die a hero.
But life has ways of fucking with you.
By 1995, all Mike's friends have slowly trickled out of Hawkins. Now, Mike lives alone as an unsuccessful writer turned middle school English teacher, feeling as though everyone has moved on without him. When Nancy asks Mike to help her and Jonathan set up their backyard wedding in California, Mike accepts, hoping he can finally find the closure he craves. Except nothing is ever so perfect. Will has been living with Nancy and Jonathan while getting an art degree at Berkeley, and Mike hasn't spoken to him since the mysterious Incident between them after they defeated Venca. This could either be the worst or best trip of Mike's life.
