Dabi looks at Hawks batting his lashes, sitting on the couch in his hideous Gucci sweater. Christ, Dabi can’t stop looking at it. It’s a point of public safety that Hawks has a stylist for when he actually needs to leave the house. That sweater could cause car crashes. “I guarantee that won’t be an issue.”
Hawks needs to come out, Dabi needs to promote his debut album, and they make an awful mess of this fake relationship thing.

Dabi tilted his head back slightly, letting his eyes flutter closed as the hero pressed his lips to his. His hand searched the air before finding Kei’s and gently intertwined their fingers. There were no gloves here, no pretences. Keigo’s beautiful black talons glinted in the light, resting against Dabi’s burnt skin but ever so careful not to pierce it. The feeling of their sharp tips glancing over his skin would’ve brought tears to Dabi’s eyes if he could cry, knowing how long it had taken for the hero to feel comfortable bearing them before him and knowing how long it would take again. Such a gift was precious.
Precious and temporary.Hawks has fallen for Dabi ten times now. He has chosen them, Touya and Keigo, ten times... He has been made to forget nine of them.

For Hawks, it isn't every day that he finds out his elusive, black-magic-practicing boyfriend is the legally dead son of Japan's top-ranked sorcerer, who Hawks has to sometimes work with and whose family is convinced they're being haunted by said legally dead son.
For Dabi, it's the impossible idea that anyone could love Touya Todoroki.
It's really the worst time to cross paths in their professional capacities. While the Vow they signed said nothing about "for better or for worse...in sickness or in health," they try to make it work in those conditions regardless.

Summary
The aftermath of Dabi burning away his wings sends Hawks reeling. He's lost the ground beneath his feet and he's clinging to whatever he can - his mentor/mentee relationship with Tokoyami is strengthened, becoming something more like a true friendship, but he can't get over the feeling that he's failed his student. Promising himself vengeance, things quickly become complicated, especially when he suspects that Dabi is in possession of one of his feathers; which may also serve as the key to getting his wings back. A combination of dreams starring Dabi and his own loss of self leaves him standing on unsteady ground, and he looks to Endeavour, his last link with the pro-hero world, to give him anything to do to further the progress with taking down the Liberation.
Of course, just as things start to seem black and white again, Dabi throws a wrench in everything all over again, and Hawks is forced to re-evaluate who he feels he must be, and how that differs from who he actually is.
