It’s funny he thinks he has to ask permission, as if this weren’t at the very top of Hisoka’s fantasies. He wonders why he never asked Chrollo to before. Perhaps he just assumed Chrollo never had any interest. This proves otherwise—and for some reason, Hisoka feels relieved.

Not that Shinsou puts much stock in the saying. He does his time, heading into the studio at odd hours to work on his masterpiece, chipping away at the marble into the loneliest hours of the morning. Just a few more years of this, and he'll get his degree, move on with his life, do what he always wanted to do.
But the stone has other plans.

With that cloud hanging over their heads, twelve-year-old Shinsou and his friends try their best to live out normal, peaceful lives. For the most part, it’s possible—at least until two men show up at Shinsou’s apartment, asking if he wants to “do his part” for the country.
(Or: Shinsou gets recruited by Japanese and American intelligence to help run interrogations on suspected Soviet spies, but Shinsou quickly finds out they want him to do more than what he signed up for.)
