Summary
Charles loathes everything about the place, its gloss, its grandeur, its deliberate falseness. Anything touched by his stepfather’s prestige and pomp leaves a sour taste in his mouth. He’d been dreading this evening ever since he’d received the invite a week ago, dreading the thought of being in the same room as Kurt again. And now that he’s here, it’s even worse than he imagined.

Summary
High-raking Mandalorian Erik Lehnsherr is, much to his chagrin, assigned on a protection detail to solidify the new Jedi/Mandalorian alliance. His charge? None other than renowned scientist Jedi Master Charles Xavier. What he thinks will be a standard mission quickly devolves into something where the stakes are much higher, with the fate of Mandalore and the Republic hanging in the balance.
The title comes from the Mando'a phrase for 'I love you:' Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, which literally translates to 'I will know you forever.'

Casablanca-ish AU.
Charles Xavier meets Erik Lehnsherr in Paris, 1937. They spend the next two years with one another, stupid in-love, until war comes heavy in September 1939. Erik leaves for Poland and the Resistance movement there, promising to return. Charles is left in Paris, where Nazi jackboots march in, Summer of 1940. He becomes a member of the underground French Resistance, publishing illegal newsletters, leaflets, until news comes through in February 1942: Erik is dead. Charles throws himself into more dangerous work, meeting with Communists, helping derail a German train, and he does too much, goes too far. His friends find him safe passage out of France, out across the Mediterranean, to Morocco, Casablanca. It is here he finds Erik, alive.Bookmarked by Special_mint
