Din nodded again. Hesitated. He pressed his lips into a thin line and worked his fingers back into the grass, soft and long and easily bent by the wind. It tickled his wrist, the same bare patch where his sleeve had ridden up earlier. The same place Cobb’s fingers had touched. Warmed his skin like the fire in the Armorer’s forge, hot enough it lingered hours later.
Din's reasons for taking Cobb Vanth along on this bounty had been strictly professional. The reason they stayed to enjoy the ongoing flowering festival had been ... less so.

“You’re Hawke, right?” The man takes a half-step closer and Hawke can just make out the desperate, hopeful look carved into the few lines on his face. A pit drops in his stomach when the man adds on a second later, “Kirkwall’s champion?”
“Depends,” he says even though what he really wants to do is deny it and let Brinna chase them off. He knows news of him has spread since even before he left Kirkwall, but he’d hoped it hadn’t traveled so far. Not that anyone, divine or mortal, has much cared for what he wants, content to throw him to the wolves even when he tries to avoid trouble.

Summary
It isn't philanthropic billionaire Bruce Wayne that takes Dick Grayson in after his parents are killed, but Selina Kyle who finds him half dead in the trash some months later. He's small, angry, and wants nothing more than for the men responsible for this to pay. Selina mostly just doesn't want to see a kid die, so she cuts him a deal: learn how to fight - how to survive - under her, and when she says he's ready then she'll help him get his revenge.
The Batman, ultimately, beats them to it, but Selina is nothing if not soft for a stray and it's obvious the kid is hungry for a home.
He's flourished the short time he's been in hers after all. Why not let him stay longer?
Why not let him stay forever?And if he decides he wants to run along the rooftops with her some nights, well, the Stray can do what he wants.
