Percy cried against Natasha’s shoulder, almost full body sobs as he clung onto her. Clint had left just fifteen minutes prior, a kiss to his forehead and a hug as he promised to be back soon. Now, Natasha was left with the crying child who was nearly inconsolable.
“He’ll come back,” Natasha murmured. “He always comes back, I promise.” Percy only shook his head as he clung to her. She sat on the ground, gently rocking him as he cried against her. His blanket was abandoned on the ground, and it seemed that Percy either didn’t care about that right now, or hadn’t noticed.
“He’ll always come back, Percy. I promise.”

Percy!” Percy’s head snapped up, not having heard the door open, and then he was wrapped up in someone’s arms.
“Clint?”
“I’m here kid, I’m here. Fu- um you weren’t supposed to be awake yet. I didn’t want you waking up alone.” Clint assured, rubbing Percy’s back. It was then that Percy realized that he wasn’t in pain anymore. Percy clutched tightly onto Clint’s jacket, and Clint held almost as tightly onto Percy.

A series about an au where x men evolution takes place at the turn of the 20th century instead of the 21st.
Few notable changes: laura is logans bio daughter not a clone, morph is here as a teacher (this series will contain morpherine), hank is here from the start as a teacher and is a first generation irish immigrant, magneto survived the pogroms of the 1800s instead of the holocaust, forge never got stuck in the middle verse cause microprocessors aren't a thing yet and is also a teacher, evan's family is from cairo like Ororo and are expats of the british controlled egypt, remy is a student, alex stayed with his brother, and kurt and adoptive family immigrated when he was a baby to a small, reclusive german speaking village to help hide him (also to make xavier contacting them easier as commercial planes aren't a thing yet)
