His landlord had been undergoing the process of changing all physical key locks to codes; when he had asked Luca to set his, he had just come back, exhausted, from a week-long roadie, too sleep deprived to actually think about it.
He’d typed in 2481. When he’d shared his code with them, a couple months later, he’d grinned, said, it was the first thing I thought of.

His eyes widen, and he gapes, mouth opening and closing wordlessly like a fish out of water. He thinks about Mr Stark meeting Dr Grace, and decides the longer he can go without an impromptu teacher-parent meeting, the better.

Never mind the fact that they both had just been there that very morning, or the fact that they live there (well, partially, in Peter's case). Fate seemed to be determined to get them on that tour, so go they must. Surely, they'd be able to keep their secrets and not have anything bad happen along the way?

And while Ilya knows he’d fall in love with every single version, he’s happy he gets this one. Happy he gets the Shane who lets himself be trusting, and vulnerable, and honest.
It makes Ilya wish he could have loved Shane earlier - makes him wish he could have known him longer. But he’s just glad he gets to do it now, here, like this.
