Tango looked down at himself, at flimsy, vintage clothing and distinct lack of any warm item of clothing.
“I’m not-”
But before he could say another word, Zed was pulling his jacket from his shoulders, holding it out to Tango as a silent offering.
The man laughed loudly and swatted it away, brushing the man off.
“Vampires don’t get cold!”
The blonde reached up and seized the arm Tango had caught him with earlier, trailing his gentle touch up from Tango’s wrist and onto his palm. Slotting their fingers together once more, Zedaph smiled softly.
“Maybe they do on Christmas.”

“Well…” Impulse’s voice had grown a couple of notches higher, and he began to bounce on the balls of his feet at the question.
“-You maay be aware of the civil war currently underway, and-” He spread his arms wide like a super villain in a movie.
“-We here at Team Star wanted to formally invite you to join the winning side!”
Zedaph froze where he was kneeling in front of the chest, one hand rising to hold the lid open as he turned to look up at Impulse.
“…Why?” He asked suspiciously. “-You guys have been fine without me up until now.”

“Tango!”
His husband poked his head around the wall of the living room.
“Yes, dear?”
Zedaph’s mouth twitched at the stupid nickname, and he turned his head to face the older man from his position on the floor.
“Tango...” he repeated. “-Why is there a corpse in my living room?”
There was a pause, and the redhead stepped through the doorway he’d been leaning on, moving towards him.
Joining Zedaph where he was surveying the body, the older man took off his reading glasses in order to better look at what the Scientist was gesturing to.
“Huh.” He said casually, “I have absolutely no idea where that came from.”

“So, when do I get to meet him?” His voice was sharp, and his question slightly pointed.
Zedaph’s head snapped around so quickly, that he could’ve sworn he heard it pop.
“Meet who?”
Tango laughed. It was, on the surface, a happy sound; however, there was something underlying it, a- coldness.
“This guy you’ve been sneaking out to meet! I mean, c’mon, three months and you haven’t even introduced us? What kind of boyfriend are you?”
“I mean, it’s not really like that-”
“Oh, I see… So is it like a friends with benefits thing then or-”
“Tango!” He cried, mortified, now fully facing him on the bed.
“-No! It’s not that.”
“Then what?" The man asked, "-What is it Zed? What is it that you’re so terrified of telling me?!”

The mossy man huffed, leaning in to the Etho slightly.
“Prove it.”
“Fine. I know that you were a couple of minutes out from starving before I gave you that steak, I know that if I started mining now, it would take us half an hour to get out of here.” he paused.
“-I know... that despite your sulking-” he flicked Bdubs on the nose,
“-You actually don’t mind being stuck in here with me.”
“Oh yeah?” He asked, raising an eyebrow, “-How could you possibly know that?”
Etho smiled, “Because I know you, Dubs.”
“Don’t worry,” he added as his friend blushed a deep rose,
“-I don’t mind either.”

Bdubs and Etho get stuck in an Ocean Monument together, it goes about as well as you'd expect.

Summary
His mind summons up the memory of Impulse and Skizz explaining how their soulbond works, and he freezes, grip tightening on his mug as the gears in his mind turn. That can’t be it, right? They had to do some sort of complicated ritual-ification to link their souls together, and Tango’s pretty sure he would’ve noticed if he’d gotten involved in a ritual in his sleep. Probably.
Or : Somehow, Zedaph and Tango end up with their souls magically tied to Impulse and Skizz, and Tango has a harder time than usual ignoring his feelings for them.

He needs to find his date.
So, Tango isn't actually sure of who he's looking for. Pearl sent him on a blind date with someone she's personally arranged for him.
He doesn't even have a vague description of her to make sure he doesn't walk up to a full-on stranger. Actually, he doesn't even know if it's a girl he's been set up with. Is it rude to assume a girl is his date? Pearl knows he's bi, so it could be a guy.
That doesn't do anything for his dilemma though. Tango sighs, if anything it makes it worse—
In his scan over the café's tables, Tango's eyes instinctively linger on curly blonde hair and tan skin, that he knows, recognises. He's walking over, feet quickly moving, before he knows it, smiling.
"Zed!" he exclaims.
{or Zedaph and Tango get set up on a first date together, unknowingly, and it ends... pretty good.}

Summary
Zed's life is relatively normal, all things considered. He runs a coffee shop with his best friends, Impulse and Skizz, and spends his nights testing out crazy ideas and experiments.
Everything's normal- right up until Tango walks in.
Zed's a little smitten with the new regular at the shop, but things seem to be getting weirder the longer he hangs around. As tensions continue to build and strange things continue to happen, Zed's going to learn quite a lot about his friends- and himself.
Assuming he survives it, of course.

He'll have to confront Tango about all the running he always has to do in his games, and Hungry Hermits is in a kitchen for goodness sake! Does the blazeborn understand how hot it gets in those? (No he doesn't, do you think the man cooks anything besides pancakes on the rare occasion? Oh, and Tango can't really feel it.)
... Speaking of the man.
Zed sighs and rubs his hand on his friend's back comfortingly. He looks down at his friend's dim hair and slack back when that soft action melts the man into his stomach, the other pressing closer at his slightest suggestion of doing so. Tango apparently pliant under all of his touch.
(Best not to dwell too much on that, yeah? It won't help Zed's mindset very much.)
