Summary
Something happens to Steve Harrington in October of 1984 in the junkyard while protecting those kids.
Something that he’s afraid of. That he doesn’t know how to control.
It starts with rows and rows of razor sharp teeth digging their way into his flesh, ripping and tearing their way through the layers of jeans and tall socks. A scream erupts from his throat at the hot burning sensation that trails its way up his leg. He’s trying to kick it with his other foot, but the demodog doesn’t even seem phased. Its flowered face never opens to release him, no matter how much force he uses behind his kicks. It uses its grip on Steve to start pulling him down the staircase of the bus, one by one, and Steve knows that if he lets himself get pulled all the way out, it’s over.

Well, a masquerade ball. Announced months before, it would be the first of many that were planned. The king was trying to make peace with his neighbors, but Grian knew it was too late for that. If nothing changed then nothing would get better. Peace was no longer an option, and it hadn’t been for a while.
The first night, nobles and potential allies were invited, then each night following would be catered towards a different territory. Peace negotiations would take place after the dance. All Grian had to do was get an invite, or rather, steal one. It shouldn't be that hard, several hybrids were walking around the city surrounding the castle, including birds. Just what he was looking for.

Each of them receives a boon and it amuses Her greatly to see how much they value their friends and loved ones. Success or failure rests on their shoulders alone, but who could blame Her if She offers them Her encouragement and gifts?
Love and loss are old tales, but even when reprising old songs there's still hope. Hope that this time things will end differently.

He takes another moment to loosen his tie and unbutton not only the top two buttons of his shirt but his cuffs as well. He rolls his sleeves to mid-forearm and returns to his seat before glancing at Eddie, who is sitting slack-jawed and staring.
“What?” Steve asks, suddenly self-conscious.
“Hm?” Eddie shakes his head and sips from his water. “Nothing, nothing. So … out with it. Why did you fly halfway across the country?”-Or-

Eddie watches the live holos of Senator Harrington’s speeches about the clones and the Jedi in the lulled silence of his quarters — empty. Not even a funeral. Empty shells of men, with their white armour painted in ways that said I am alive, chanting a language that Eddie barely understood.
I’m still alive, but you are dead. I remember you, so you are eternal. He didn’t need to know their language to understand. He heard the names of the soldiers pass through the small crowd, huddled together with the same faces that shed a thousands different tears: Ace, Buddy, Per, Sev…
(The names went on. He let them wash over his being with an out-of-body sense of self that he imagined Jedi took on when they meditated. As if he wasn’t really there at all. But he let the names soak into his skin, traced the grooves of their armour with his fingertips, tried to make them eternal).
