Summary
If you were to ask anyone who knew the Midoriyas about the family, they would say they were very close and very private, and that the mother and son duo were lovely, but that it was unfortunate that the son’s father seemed to be nonexistent - either dead or gone or so distant he never showed his face, and how hard it must be for Inko to take care of her son all on her own, with no help.
To most, Midoriya Hisashi was a ghost in society.
To his family, he was much more.
OR
Midoriya Hisashi is a yokai, and is not as absent as he seems.

Summary
When Izuku came to, it was to the sound of dripping water and deep, even breathing.
He shifted slightly, feeling something painful and slightly sticky chafing against his wrists where they were kept together behind his back and a pressure around his ankles holding them together, and came to the conclusion that wherever he was, he wasn’t there willingly. It seemed, in fact, almost as if he had been kidnapped.

Summary
Midoriya Izuku had always been… jumpy.
Since he was little, he would jump at the smallest sounds, get distracted by seemingly nothing, and wander off as if he was following someone or something he had seen, only to not remember what he was chasing when someone asked while scolding him not to wander off.
OR
Midoriya Izuku sees shadows where he shouldn't, but he doesn't really realise at first.

Summary
Cheng Xiaoshi dies in his arms, just like he has so many times before.
The first time, it is a fresh and crippling pain, something that tears through him in a way nothing ever has before, stealing his breath and his words and his heart, and by the time he gathers the shattered parts of him and puts them back together again, misaligned and threatening to fall apart all over again, the pain has dulled to an ache, the world duller and his heart sore.
It took him days to realise he could change things.
