But, just as you're about to leave, Nahida recruits you to complete one last mission in Sumeru: explore ancient ruins and retrieve the treasures within before they are lost forever. Aether had assumed that proposing to his boyfriend of two years would be the most nerve-wracking part of getting married. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. It seemed the entirety of the Inazuman Court had it out for him, picking apart his every decision and constantly questioning why it is that Kuni agreed to marry him. His love for Kuni knew no bounds, but as the date of his wedding grew closer and closer, he started to dread it more and more.
Kuni would have throttled each and every one of the members of the Inazuman Court if he could. They were like vultures, picking away at his fiancé bit by bit out of nothing but spite and jealousy. He knew he could only reassure so much before his words started to feel hollow to Aether, so as the wedding began to draw closer, he turned to drastic measures.

Summary
Aether was prepared for his trip to Inazuma to be difficult when he had to sneak through a massive lightning storm in a tiny wooden boat with Lumine and Paimon. Getting captured by Inazuman officials on a mission to help the resistance was certainly not how he was planning on his adventure taking him. But even being sentenced to help the second prince of Inazuma on his quest to quell the Bale Thunder infested areas of the island nation were nothing compared to the arduous tedium that was simply talking to such a stuck up menace.
But as they spent more time together, Aether began to see a different side to the prince. Someone who was lonely, reserved out of self-preservation, and when he could be bothered to be, kind. Someone who made Aether feel something that was hard to come by in his time constantly going from place to place. Someone whose smile stopped his brain from processing and sped up his heartbeat and haunted his dreams. Archons help him.

Now that he can't die, the Abyss Prince is trying to figure out how to be human. He does odd jobs, practices calligraphy, reads poetry, and follows Wanderer across nations like a puppy, using coincidence as an excuse.
