Shane was an omega, or he was going to be, his test results were clear on that fact. It wasn't technically the end of the world, omegas were technically allowed in the MHL, but there were rules. Rules for safety. Rules like having to be mated. So he needed to suck it up, socialise and find an alpha who was willing to mate an eighteen year old who wanted to play ice hockey, a sport known for it's tendency to land players in hospital with permanent dissabilities.
Enter Ilya Rozanov, an Epa alpha who made the unusualness of Shane's male omega status practically normal by comparison. Summary
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a mission he doesn't remember volunteering for. Summary
Iron Lung meets Project Hail Mary. After spotting the floating remnants of the Iron lung from the Hail Mary on Grace and Rocky's journey back to Erid, Grace insists on bringing it with them.
Grace gets on his space suit and goes and tethers it to the hail Mary. Rocky uses his ship to manufacture a link with the iron lung and they manage to pry open the window shield to reveal someone inside.
They manage to cut open the iron lung and get its sole passenger to med bay and have Armando stabilize him until they get to Erid.
Simon barely comes to, but just manages to make out Graces sillouette in front of a bright light, before falling unconscious and kept in a stable coma for the rest of the trip.
How will these two Patron Saints of One Way Trips learn to cohabitate on a completely foreign world? Will Simon be able to adapt to living a more stable, civilian lifestyle? Will Simons shadows stay behind him and not destroy the life he will build for himself?
Will both of these lonely humans be able to find solace and acceptance being the only human souls on the edge of a foreign galaxy? Only time will tell.

They walk into the light of the open doorway; Simon, squinting hard against the vivid sun with his hand raised to shield his eyes and Rocky, who chirps a casual "Hello, humans!" with a wave.
There’s a gasp; someone takes a step backward; one of the military personnel raises their rifle slightly.
Grace doesn’t have eyes for them - he only looks at Stratt.
And he decides, then and there, to replace the image of Stratt’s face sending him to his death, full of remorse and sadness, with the one in front of him: utter, complete disbelief.

It just so happens this exact scenario is an extreme fantasy that Grace has always wanted to experience. His initial fear morphs into arousal. In the aftermath, Rocky is abhorred by his loss of control, that he violated his best friend. Grace, however, is more than willing to reconcile.

Grace did, at some point, learn more about Eridian reproduction systems beyond the brief overview Rocky gave him when they first met. Eridians used to bury their eggs to improve the success of healthy hatchlings. Lower in the ground in its cave systems, Erid’s temperature decreases to a cool 130-150 degrees Fahrenheit. However, with modern technology, Eridians can improve the life expectancy of their young even further by securing the eggs inside incubation machines that cool them down to 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit.
It was super interesting to learn about all of this, and of course he chimed in, “that’s basically my temperature, you know?” But the scientist he was talking to already knew this. They got excited that Grace made the connection anyway.
"Yes, you would be a perfect incubator for Eridian eggs. There wouldn’t be any instinctual fear about predators stealing the eggs, if they were safe inside you."
