Summary
It's all too much. Three long years of blades in the dark, a lifetime of regrets collected in the space of thirty-six months. Goro's father has to die. It can't wait anymore. It doesn't matter what it takes. There's no price now that could balance Libra's scales but one paid in blood and weighed heavy with the gravity of filial impiety. Whatever it takes.
This was why he was born, to burn his life for a sunrise he'll never see. It's the only way for him to set things right. Justice, for him and for his father, lashed together by blood and sin, sinking to the bottom of a sunless river. No one was coming to save him. All Goro had to do was push.

“Wanna skip?” Nicole asked idly. Actually attending classes seemed kinda pointless this close to graduation. More than usual anyway. It didn't have much personal weight since she likely wouldn't be around to see much of anything for long after they graduated.
“Can't,” Jecka sighed. “I can't miss more school if I actually wanna go to college.”
“...and that's important because… ?”
“‘Cause I actually wanna do something with my life other than get fucked up until I die, Nicole.”Series

Summary
Alarms were a fixture at any Lobotomy Corporation branch. They sang out their song from trumpeted speakers as electricity flings light from bulbs in its channeled course. They came with the territory, as clouds forming and reforming in the night sky: endemic, precipitous, inevitable and true. Their absence would have been more remarkable and more concerning in turn. It hadn’t always been that way. But it was now, and that was what mattered, the shape of the world – as it was – eternal until one day it was simply different.
It made Devon’s heart ache. It used to be better. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, exactly. It wasn’t Ayin’s, that was for sure. But it did used to be better.

Summary
Binah's lips parted as she pulled away from Angela to inspect her handiwork. Angela panted softly open-mouthed, slumped against the wall and maintaining eye contact as she ground harder against Binah. What may have passed for a smile on anyone else's face was the baring of teeth on Binah's. She saw herself reflected in Angela's amber eyes like a predator who cornered her prey. Binah's shadow eclipsing the light in her eyes was like watching the moment the hungry blackness within her devoured Angela whole. She had no intention of ending anything so quickly.
She would have her piece by piece.

Summary
Hod felt the words more than heard them. She only knew them to be Gebura’s because no one else could have uttered them with such annihilatory gravity. She resolved from settling blood like the pale autumn fog through falling leaves: silent, precipitous, like dew beading in the tender moments between dusk and dawn.
The sleek black, silver, and neon-streaked crimson armor was new. Her flowing-flame hair and piercing steel mask, Hod would know them anywhere. The mask was sheer of anything but a blazing focal point of bloody light. She raised before her a massive and many-eyed, single-edged sword of blistering flesh and cold metal. It sang too, the melody accompanying the dance of death in which Gebura immersed herself. It was a sanguine harmony of heart and soul. Hod saw Kali that day.
The scars in her heart made her motion mesmerizing, the madness wielded there, the resolve to wade against the tide of slaughter and fearlessly rip fear itself limb from bloody limb with her own hands. It captivated Hod. Monstrous blood soaked her armor like rain, casting her jutted silhouette in a halo of gore and violence befitting her namesake. Hod was transfixed by the color and the proclamation.
She was the Red Mist.

Summary
Her ears rang. Fuck, since when was Don this strong? It triggered the shadow of a memory not her own, a recollection etched in her flesh of long nights and crimson blades in the dark, of the salt of Don's sweat and the heavy iron of someone else's blood overwhelming her senses.
Another blow connected. A depraved noise between a gasp and a needy whine crawled out of her throat. Another time, another place, another night Don had straddled her hips and made her forget everything but the heat that threatened to swallow her whole with every strike.
It felt good, and that was all that really mattered, wasn't it?
Maybe they should make a little mistake together.

Summary
Makoto's legs swung back and forth over the edge of her bed. She couldn't remember the last time she had been this nervous. Ann had called her out of the blue to ask if she wanted to study for exams together. Makoto had invited Ann over faster than she could think better of it. She chewed at her bottom lip. What was she thinking? Her heart was about to beat out of her chest, and Ann wasn't even here yet. Ann said she'd be over "soon." When exactly was soon? Makoto flopped back on her mattress, thoroughly exasperated with herself and letting out a long sigh. She was overthinking this.

Summary
Goro glanced back over his shoulder, pulse pounding in his throat so furiously it nearly drowned out his ragged breathing. The air was thin this high up, and he bent his knees at the edge of the skyscraper roof, bracing against the wind whipping his coat open and cutting through him like frigid knives. He heard heavy footsteps pounding up the stairwell. He was dead if they caught him. His hands were slick and soaked with the blood of his first kill. He couldn't be caught. He would *not* end here.

There was a certain delicious irony in working at Big Bang Burger. It wasn't lost on Goro, but it was also his one option for gainful employment. It didn't matter what skills he had if they weren't accredited by some institution - a college or otherwise - and "serial cognitive killer" wasn't exactly something you put on a resúme. Big Bang Burger, they would hire anyone. Maybe Maruki had granted Goro's wish for the his own life to live in the most literal, short-sighted way imaginable with the last shred of his power. How very Takuto Maruki.

Summary
"Mobius, dear, you there?" Elysia called into the dimly lit lab, knowing full well that Mobius was definitely there because she was never anywhere else unless required to be so.
She didn't answer. Pointedly. Mobius couldn't fathom why Elysia possibly insisted on coming here, for the fourth night in a row no less. Mobius had more important things to do. Elysia had more important things to do. It was brainless, pure and simple. The corners of her mouth quirked down in the shadow of a frown. Elysia didn't matter enough to provoke a stronger reaction than idle irritation, helpful as she had been lately.
Leaving to eat or drink was too inconvenient both for the schedule on which she operated for MOTH and for the satisfaction of her own devouring curiosity. Over the past several weeks, Elysia had been by frequently to ensure she was taking care of her annoying, difficult, inconsiderate human body. Mobius did not appreciate her interruptions, but Elysia didn't seem to care what she did or didn't appreciate. At least she usually brought food.

Summary
They said Mobius was cruel. Maybe that was true. They said she was heartless, that she enjoyed hurting people. Maybe that was true too. It was observable fact. Scientific. Mobius was a woman of science. The observable was all there was and certainly all that mattered. She was cruel, and she was heartless, empirically so and in all the ways that mattered.
They didn't really say any of that, not audibly anyway. It was observable fact. Scientific. They said it in the way her laboratory sat silently humming a tuneless melody of pristinely machined metal and engineered chemical reaction. They said it in the way their voices dropped involuntarily when she passed in the hall. Like they had seen a ghost. They said it in the way she ate alone night after night. They said it in the way nobody asked after her condition beyond and insofar as it interfered with her operational capacity. It never did. They never asked. That was fine.

Summary
Times like this when he stained the carpet a deep scarlet were the times Goro missed his mother the most. He gritted his teeth, pressing the bundle of cloth he'd torn from his shirt against the gash in his side and hissing between clenched teeth at the cloth pressing into his open wound. He could only hope no one had seen him limping back to his apartment. If someone reported him, he was dead. Well, he was dead sooner than he was already on track to be.

Summary
Goro was so normal. He was so very normal that it was boring. He was so boring and so normal because it was both boring and normal to sit and watch your roomba roll back and forth and find it somehow upsetting in a way that made him want to scream. Because normal people screamed at their roomba because it was upsetting that it rolled back and forth on the floor, peacefully - placidly even - sucking motes of invisible dust off an already spotless floor.

Summary
It was the 16th of November, two days until Akira - until Kurusu sent the calling card to the Nijima girl's sister. Two days until all of Goro's plans came to fruition. Two days until the final steps grinding his worthless father into a bloody paste went into motion. It was only two days until that waste of oxygen would be toppled in his moment of triumph. Only two more days until he gave Kurusu up. So why was he sitting across from Kurusu in the middle of the night and sipping a soultini like they had a lifetime of nights after this one to wile away?
