Summary
Newcomer Roy Kent is an overhyped, so-called prodigy whose unbridled rage and mediocre talent rendered his Premier League debut a profound disappointment.
It had been a lie. Almost twenty years since and Trent still remembers. Roy Kent had indeed been full of unbridled rage, but even to Trent’s young, cocky, hyper-critical eye, there was no way he could fairly be called mediocre. Not then. Not ever.

Summary
“Jonathan,” says Evy, walking straight into his living room without so much as a hello and standing directly in front of him. Her voice is saccharine, so sugary that it puts Jonathan’s teeth on edge. “Did you happen to become a bestselling author while Rick and I were in Luxor over summer?”
Jonathan clears his throat, sinks a little lower in his armchair, and lifts yesterday’s edition of The Egyptian Gazette higher, obscuring the blush he knows he can’t control.
“I have no idea how I’m supposed to answer that, dear sister,” he replies, “seeing as I have absolutely no idea what the current bestselling novels are.”
When Jonathan writes an adventure—definitely not a romance, thank you—novel based on the whole Imhotep debacle, he doesn't expect it to become the bestselling pulp sensation of the decade. With hindsight, perhaps he should have made some of the real life parallels less obvious, especially when it comes to the dashing romantic lead, Abir Rey.
Thankfully, there are no bookshops in the desert, so the chances of Ardeth reading it are blessedly slim.
Probably.

“At 4:44 in the morning the smell of coffee, like every other day, woke Trent up.
At 4:45 kitchen radio started to play quietly in the background and Trent could, just like yesterday, recognise the sounds of Enjoy The Silence, which he thought was a little bit of a strange coincidence, but well. Stranger things had happened.
At 4:50 he was at the kitchen table, thinking about his life choices. About journalism and football and life that kept having turns that he couldn’t predict.”
Or: Trent Crimm, The Independent finds himself stuck in the time loop. There’s a lot of British 80's music and questionable life choices included.

Summary
Trent cannot for the life of him figure out what Ted would want out of the intimate situations Trent very badly wants to get into with him. The indirect route can only gather so much data; if he wants to know, he's going to have to actually ask Ted what his deal is (and whether Trent can get dealt in).

"It is done," Xenk says. He holds up his own right hand to demonstrate, displaying the golden light that is already sinking into his gauntlet and disappearing beneath. "We are bound, you and I, until the magic is dispelled."
"What the fuck," Edgin whispers. He scrabbles at his sleeve, yanking it up to examine the faintly-glowing runes that have encircled his wrist. "What the fuck? What do you mean, bound?"
Sent by the High Harpers to retrieve a criminal to aid in a desperate mission, and authorized to use binding magic to ensure his cooperation, Xenk comes to understand and long for the former Harper agent Edgin Darvis during the tenday they spend in Icewind Dale, surrounded on all sides by ice, and cold, and endless lonely nothingness.

[I’m not looking to fuck right now, but my bathroom sink is currently flooding the bathroom
I know it’s kind of random, but can I borrow a flathead screwdriver by any chance?
I don’t really know my neighbors and you’re the closest person to me on grindr
That’s…yeah, that’s new. Sokka flicks quickly through the profile, trying to decide if it’s a joke or some slang, or a reference he’s missed and finally shrugging, because,
Yeah, he types out, why not]
OR,
Sokka has a new neighbor who needs some plumbing help. A lot of plumbing help, as it turns out.
If only he could figure out if that was a euphemism.

It is ridiculous to cross the glacier like this—a disgraced journalist with nothing but his pride and an optimistic offworlder with a duffel and a smile, plunging into the freezing night—ridiculous, and foolhardy, and probably deadly to them both. But, Trent muses, as Ted catches up to him and they press on together toward the lightless slope of the glacier, it’s also the one route nobody would think to follow.

"I violated journalistic integrity."
"Not why you resigned, I know that part, I meant why did you violate journalistic integrity?" Trent is briefly flummoxed and muses on the fact that this has turned into a true role reversal. "You're a good journalist Trent and you wouldn't have tossed that away for nothing. Not just outta respect."
"Well fuck." Trent reaches up to pinch the bridge of his nose before resigning himself to the embarrassment he is about to endure. "I had hoped your stubborn American politeness would have allowed us to dance around this issue."
