The Knights of Favonius are in grave need of staff. Upon Jean’s formal request, Diluc decides to temporarily join them just so they won’t end up having to get help from the Fatui.
Since he has a great workload, he needs an assistant. Kaeya is the only one who is fit for that role because not only is he a cavalry captain without a single horse, but he is also a good negotiator. Although Diluc doesn’t want to admit it, they end up as a good duo indeed.
But everything changes when a terrible incident occurs in Springvale, ruining lives and breaking all trust. Facing a crisis about to get out of hand, Captain Diluc has to make a decision and act fast. When everything depends on him and even his assistant is rendered speechless, will he be able to save Mondstadt, his brother’s pride, and their rocky relationship?

Summary
Diluc glared at the man as he fought and struggled against the chains binding him. He couldn't even stand up and smack the man in the face with the chair, as his legs had been chained too. He could only listen with disdain written all over his face, at the insults and remarks spouted out of the inspector's mouth:
"Even your own brother has turned against you. What more do you have left?"
Eroch turned to the boy in question and gave him a nod. Blue eyes tinted purple bored into Diluc's own, and the sword descended slowly.
Is this... the end? Haha. How amusing.

Kaeya had been acting strangely ever since he left the cavalry and temporarily joined Sir Eroch whilst he was recovering from injuries. Diluc decided to investigate and was almost convinced nothing was wrong. However...

Being a captain isn't easy, and a grave mistake during his early months as a captain has led Kaeya to believe that he could never live up to being as good as Diluc was.
Cavalry Captain Diluc made no mistakes and was loved by many.
Cavalry Captain Kaeya was an incompetent man.
Despite that, Kaeya still tries too hard in trying to prove himself. Diluc worries for him.

Summary
Kaeya fears Diluc's vermillion eyes. He has ever since the other man returned to Mondstadt 2 years ago. He ignored it at the time, hoping it was a stupid irrational fear that would fade.
It hasn't though--- If anything, he thinks he's gotten worse in the last couple of months. Even just the color red is making him do a double-take every time it comes into his vision. He feels his perfected mask is slipping and he doesn't know how to fix it.
He can only hope that it isn't too noticable.
Meanwhile, Diluc wants to reconcile. The only issue is, he has no idea how to, and Kaeya has been acting strange...
He wants to figure him out.

Summary
The damage done to Mondstadt by Dvalin’s winds were more severe and Diluc returned to the city after helping the Traveler to find that there was structural damage to parts of the city, including the windmills. Diluc also finds out that Kaeya had been hit by debris from one of the windmills and knocked unconscious.

Kaeya was exhausted. He barely slept at all, having gone at least 36 hours without sleep by now, because he expected to have one night patrol and be done, planning to go home and fall face first into bed that night.

Summary
Kaeya was only 13, 214 days away from turning 14, when his life fell apart. Now he’s 17, only 214 days away from turning 18 so he could finally change from a Ragnvindr to an Alberich. Because that’s what Diluc would want, right? Too bad Diluc decided to come home for his birthday this year.
AKA Kaeya never left the Winery after their fight. When Diluc came home, his demons followed.
