Astarion has ascended and accepted that he won’t see Dirge again. Behind his back, though, Gortash manages to intervene with the help of Bane to interfere with Dirge’s fate. Astarion learns how to share with a large amount of difficulty.
The dark urge is named Dirge. Ascended Astarion has a form of attachment to Dirge, but ultimately sees them as a favourite toy that Gortash took from him. Plot with porn every chapter.

Summary

“I can do that.”
Two broken stars in a decaying orbit, passing closer and closer together until the inevitable, devastating collision.
Or, Tav is fucked up and down bad for Astarion, who doesn't quite see the appeal (but he's getting there). Sexual frustration, sloppy handjobs, a heavy dose of masochism, and way too many failed Insight checks ahead. Tav falls first, Astarion falls harder (eventually).
Or, a tragic-but-hopeful romance told through a series of incredibly ill-advised sexual encounters.
If you want to read a story where Astarion is sweet from the start and Tav is here to fix him, this isn't the one. If you want to read about two terribly broken men spending a good long while making each other worse before they make each other better, this might be for you. If you thought the in-game romance was a little too easy and it should have been ten times more painful and difficult to convince Astarion he's worthy of love, this is definitely for you.
Set during the canonical events of Baldur's Gate 3.

A palace with thousands of mirrors reflecting each other back. An echo ran through the surroundings, a screech. But there were other things. Hidden things. Things that eluded Tav when he tried to reach for them.
He realized that the drider's mind was fractured. Broken into so many pieces it was impossible to know if they had ever fit together.-----
As they watch a convoy of Absolutists, Tav is injured and left behind. He has no choice but to pose as a devout True Soul in order to survive.
As soon as his gaze settles on Kar'niss for the first time, Tav is fascinated by the drider. He won't admit it to himself, but the curiosity he feels might just contain at least a spark of attraction.
He teams up with the drider to make the journey to Moonrise Towers.

“A really bad dream, then, or are you always so quick on the draw?”
You stay quiet and wipe the sweat off your brow and upper lip. There was a stream nearby… but the thought of being alone out here at night terrified you. Sleeping out in the open with another vampire mere feet away was bad enough.
But there was nothing else you could do now to distract your mind. Her eyes, her smile were burned into the forefront of your mind, taunting you, beckoning you back to her.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR BG3. SPECIFICALLY THE DARK URGE QUESTLINE.
Bhaal has a new spawn created with the dark god’s own blood and sworn to drown the world in a pool of death and gore. When the Dark Urge is sent to kill the man who resurrected the worship of Bane in Baldur’s Gate , the urge meets a cunning human named Enver Gortash who greets him with a silver tongue and conviction. The pair come to an understanding and an unlikely alliance is formed between two worshipers of Bhaal and Bane.
Set 5 years before the events of Baldur’s Gate 3, this fic serves as one possible account of how the dead three came to form their pact. Loose notes and small dialogue from bg3 served as the inspiration for this fic (specifically the Memoirs by Gortash book that you find in his quarters). I loved the short interactions and hints we got at their past together. I will update the TW tags as I go but there will be a lot of death, violence, manipulation, and blood.

This is a longfic retelling of my BG3 playthrough with my half-elf bard, Averyll Springheart with a heavy focus on his romance with Astarion (and a bit later including Halsin). The main plot drives my story forward, but those big events are glossed over through journal entries as I turn my focus to the characters and their relationships.
