She claps her hands over her mouth, horror dawning. "No," She says between fingers, "I didn't mean—What I meant was. Well." Heat rushes across her cheeks, he's sure to notice even with her hands still covering her mouth.
Giving up she drops her hands, and sucks in air. "We're like two squares trying to fit into a circular hole. If we really work at it we can squeeze through, but try as we might we're still the odd ones out."

Goro takes a sip of his tea. “What, was Akira-senpai busy?”
“No!” Sumire quickly and pointedly looks down at her cup, no doubt to hide the furious blush coming to her cheeks. “I mean, I don’t know if he’s busy. I didn’t ask him.” She lets out a breath. “Believe it or not, I actually wanted to see you.”
For a second, Goro is convinced he didn’t hear her correctly, even though he knows he did. “...Why?”

Summary
At age fourteen, Kurusu Akira kills the only cognitive psientist to object to Shido’s methods under the latter’s orders. His hand doesn’t tremble as he pulls the trigger, but his heart breaks. Still, it’s worth it. It’s the first step towards freedom, and more importantly, his revenge.
Two years later, cursed child Akechi Goro is caught shoplifting, and after a brief chase gets slammed into the pavement by three police officers double his size. The only reason he can't slip out of their grasp is because he hasn't eaten in three days. It earns him a one-way ticket to Tokyo.
(Or, Akechi leads the Phantom Thieves of Hearts while Akira is the Detective Prince. Despite that change, however, Crow is still Crow, and Joker is still Joker.)
