After all the hype Bebe had given him, he’d prepared himself for someone attractive enough. He’d pictured someone along the lines of a Matt Damon type—good-looking, sure, but in a normal, approachable way (no offense, Matt Damon). Maybe a little older, with a few graying hairs and an aura that came with years of experience.
Not… this.
Not someone who looked like they’d wandered off the set of a Calvin Klein campaign and accidentally ended up working in sports medicine.

Summary
He positions him in the most uncomfortable pose that he can think of, and for the first few strokes of his brush, Petey believes that this painting is going pretty well. Better than his first attempt at least. That one felt too vulnerable, as though he was painting his lover and not someone deemed horrid-looking by society. But Greg can’t hold this pose forever, and Petey’s hand continues to betray him — even when his end goal of saving his reputation is questioned.

So, when Petey goes to Dog Man’s house to retrieve an item for Lil Petey and finds the hybrid crying, why does the compulsion to comfort him arise? It’s Dog Man, for crying out loud! There’s no way he can be the friend he needs; well… there’s no harm in trying, right?

Btw this fanfic wouldn't be canon for their AU. Think of it as a fanfic for a fanfic. HahaHUGE CONTEXT: I wrote this for a creative-writing class where we had to practice different points of view so that's why chapter 1 is like that. Also since this was for a one-time assignment, I don't really intend to finish it (unless...). I just wanted to share this for the creator of the AU!

Dog Man had heard a cat purr before. The first night he met Li’l Petey, the kitten had made the rumbling sound when he fell asleep on top of the dog. Other than that, he’d only heard the sound on a few rare occasions, mostly from strays around the city.
So when he heard Petey purr, he was beyond shocked.

Petey purrs for the first time in years, and it happens to be when he's lying next to Dog Man.
