wow… this was so incredible and filled with so much depth. fake-dating + miscommunication + avoidance is super common as a theme in fics/ books/ media in general but the back stories and the motivations of the characters in this fic were so well written i absolutely loved it.
How everything tied together, how the story flowed seamlessly from past to present and back, how insecurities, misconceptions and miscommunication led to hurt and anger and resentment, how early childhood, family life and attachment styles shaped their sense of self in the present, how trauma tainted thinking and perception etc. How despite all that, love was still able to grow and be nurtured…

healing injured dancer bin x tree god hao. loved hanbin’s journey of accepting where he’s currently at, at the moment. Also grew strangely fond of his walks in the forest, i need a forest in my backyard that I can escape to at the drop of a hat. found family in this little mountain village ugh i wish my life was like this. nature + soulmate + found family what more could a person want.
haobin were so stinkin cute, especially when they got together in the end. this was just really sweet.

wow so let’s all die. omg this was so so wonderful to read. angsty fics centred around queer love and homophobia are like crack to me.
I love the way their Busan trip was described, it felt so magical and momentous: like I fully get why bin was never really able to let go of it (and hao). The way bin saw hao… oh you lover boy :((
three years. of pining and being losers. of love that consumes you, that feels bigger than you. I absolutely loved the scene of bin at the train station after hao leaves. bin’s desperation, that phone call… “I’m sorry I wasn’t born a girl”… OUCH my baby hao. I loved the train station reconciliation scene too. It felt huge and serious but also warm and uncomplicated and silly.

Long, long tumultuous journey. Felt so frustrated because it seemed like they kept going in circles. But in a way, that's what made it incredibly realistic. Relate to Hao's character so much, that my chest felt tight and my throat felt clogged half the time I was reading this. I know they ended up happy, but that made me kind of bitter and envious. I, too, want to just get better. Have someone write a few chapters and solve all my problems. I want to have a reason to get better, I want to feel something more than bone-deep tiredness.
Anyway, complex characters, hated them, loved them. Great read.
Edit: had to come back here and emphasise how incredible the sticky note aspect of their initial connection/ communication was. Also realised I didn’t mention hanbin’s character much but I loved him so bad. Perhaps much more than Hao’s bc Hao was me. Hated how much Hao hurt bin bc of how cruel he was to himself and I couldn’t imagine how they could overcome all that- the resentment, the anger. But… it was done really beautifully and I particularly appreciated the moments in which hanbin lost his cool and showed Hao how much pain he was in bc of Hao’s actions. I’m really glad that it was all acknowledged and worked through instead of just putting a bandaid over it and calling it a day. It really hammered in the fact that loving someone is a choice you have to repeatedly make- past all the history, the hurt, pride etc. You gotta work for it, try to be better for it. Really painful story BOOOOOO. Loved it though.

kind of obsessed with the semi-realistic way hao reacted after finding out his best-friend of seven years has been in love w him this whole time. The fear tainting every single thing… Gyu’s character was such a shit communicator omg TT. Lowkey every one was a shit communicator in this. Such tense vibes all the time. My heart hurt really bad for the way gyub was treating hao, he should’ve grovelled a bit more :(( Plus hao was an idiot sure, but no one was getting his POV which made me sad. He felt so unloveable, my baby :( tbh… i feel like i felt less of hanbin’s love and more of his painful yearning which kind of tainted his feelings in my eyes. Have no idea how hao and bin got over their shit and got together but whatever! hao was a mess but was endearing, and he was so real for how he dealt w everything even if it was messy as hell
