"Leave it," Eddie says, his voice pulled taut like a wire about to snap, tight enough to hum.
Buck looks at him, and Eddie’s whole body has gone so rigid he looks carved from stone, but Buck will ruminate on that later. But he can't exactly leave his phone under the seat for the next eight hundred miles, it's got his whole life on it, every stupid photo he's ever taken of Christopher and Eddie and Eddie and Christopher and, embarrassingly, just Eddie, so many just-Eddies, an entire hidden album of candids he'll never admit to because they constitute evidence of something he's been pretending he doesn't feel.
"I can't leave it, it's my phone. It's got— hold on, I think it slid under your seat."

It’s as if Eddie doesn’t even know him, because Buck has never once heard the word don’t and responded with anything resembling obedience. So now he’s stretching across the center console with one hand braced on Eddie’s thigh for leverage, the other reaching blindly into the dark gap beneath the driver’s seat, and he’s aware on some level that his positioning is— that he’s essentially— that his head is—

After weeks spent in the agonizing limbo of having Buck right in front of him most of the time but being unable to reach him, Eddie pulls up to Buck’s house on the eve of Bobby’s one-year memorial dinner with their freshly dry-cleaned suits in the back seat and one goal in mind. Or, well, two goals. First, talk to Buck about what’s been going on. Second, bring Buck home and never let him out of his sight again.
Except Buck isn’t home, even though they’re off on a 72 and Buck never mentioned having any plans.

Summary
Thundering footsteps come down the hallway, bust into the room.
Eddie, pausing at first in the doorway, then eyes bursting wide in shock. He jumps to Buck’s side, hand warm and heavy across his back.
A guttural sound comes from deep in Buck’s chest–not a scream or a groan, something instinctual and animalistic, a rabbit as the wolf's teeth dig into its neck.
"Buck? Holy shit. Buck, Buck, what did she give you? What did you give him?" Eddie shouts.
"Mom?" Buck whimpers.

Summary
The LAFD owns a series of utility trailers for the use of doing fire safety demonstrations at local schools. Not anything fancy, just a couch, a lamp, maybe a coffee table. Eddie has never really gotten the point - all they do is light the interior on fire and then put it out - it’s meant to show how quickly a room can ignite.
Through the years, Buck and Eddie have used this space as somewhere to go when they need privacy. It’s the space where Buck and Eddie go to be BuckandEddie.
The thing about the fire safety demonstration trailer, and their school fire safety demonstrations in general, is that they were always always scheduled well in advance and that information was relayed to everyone on that shift - on Bobby’s watch anyway.
Clearly, the B-shift captain did things differently.Or
Buck and Eddie get trapped in a utility trailer, accidentally come out to the entire B-shift of the 118, and mildly traumatize their son in the process.

Eddie had been drinking his coffee, sitting outside on his back porch, trying not to get overwhelmed at all the shit he still had to do at his new place. The bird, a sweet little thing with a yellow face, was a nice distraction, flitting around, probably looking for food through the overgrown garden. It doesn’t take more than three minutes before his phone buzzes with Buck’s response.
