Daniel drinks another martini and a half, says, “You’re lucky I’m on blood thinners. I used to handle my liquor way better,” as he sets the unfinished drink on the table and offers Armand his arm again.
Armand sits next to him this time, their bodies turned in toward each other as he cradles Daniel’s arm and drinks. The blood gives him a headrush, and he blinks rapidly to attempt to clear his vision. This time he leaves the wound for longer, lets blood drip down toward Daniel’s wrist before he laps it up.
“Fuck,” Daniel murmurs as he watches. “That’s more like it.”

Wei Ying didn’t know how he’d ended up here.
The omega was heaving in sharp gasps, shock temporarily rendering him mute — truly a feat in and of itself; a perfect representation of how utterly surprising his situation was. He was being held down easily. Firmly restrained as if he wasn’t one of the top four strongest cultivators in their generation, no matter how hard he shoved against the grip on himself his oppressor wasn’t budging at all. Leaving him staring up in a mixture of nervousness, excitement (mostly shock) and fine maybe — he could admit privately to himself — a little bit of fear at the positively enraged alpha that was restraining him.
He didn’t quite know how this happened.

Everyone looks at him. Wei Ying with hope. His brother with nervousness. The grandmother across the way with expectation. All of their faces fall with his answer.
"No." He doesn't know Wei Ying, who is loud and who is dirty. He touches Lan Zhan without asking and even though he's promised not to do it again, he can't undo what's already been done. And worst of all, most heinous of all, he's ruined his yarn. How can they be friends so suddenly?
Maybe by the end of summer, though. They'll need play dates. Time to learn each other. Lan Zhan can teach him about the important of yarn and how to take care of toys so they don't break. And how to speak quieter and keep his hands to himself. And maybe Lan Zhan will be willing to learn a few things from him, too. He can't imagine what those things are now, but it's only fair.
Maybe they can be friends, by the end of summer.

The more she sees of him, the sooner he will frighten her away.
When he is trying to fall asleep, he sees her eyes piercing into him from across the sept. His entire body crawls at the sensation of it. She is undoing him, opening him, turning him inside out. He sleeps without dreams and wakes up wanting more.
