Wolfwood probably counts as a biohazard right now, the way he's sweating, and he's screaming at traffic like a fucking maniac, leaning his bike into the curves at near-lethal speed. He knows he needs to get a grip, but the complete idiot of an Omega he has been in love with from the minute they met, even if they've just been pretending to be friends, is crashing off of years of suppression across town, and Meryl had called to say that he has been begging for Wolfwood for hours, that now his fever is so high and he's so incoherent it's scaring her. She hadn't even known who he was talking about at first, because only Vash knows the name 'Nico', because Vash is meant to be his, Vash feels so right that Wolfwood had just given that name to him one night, natural as breathing.

Summary
The thug crumples. Vash lets out a whistle through his teeth, remorseful. He’s going to have a hell of a concussion later on. But that’s what he gets for shooting up a hospital. You live and you learn, right? Karma is a thing. Or whatever they say. Man, Vash has gotten cynical. He needs to start spending less time with Wolfwood.
Speaking of Wolfwood, the sound of gunfire from upstairs—well, it doesn’t sound entirely one sided. He must be up there. But if the attack has continued for this long, he’s probably in trouble. Checking that his gun is fully loaded, and that his safety is off on both Peacemaker and his arm prosthetic, he starts to mount the stairs once more.
From above: an explosive clattering noise. Not quite like the sound of dynamite, perhaps like a piece of furniture collapsed, a filing cabinet? This is a hospital, after all. A chorus of screams—children’s—and then one that stands out from the rest, not just because it’s a different pitch, but because Vash has never heard it before; that is, not in that way.

With Vash still recovering from his grief over July, Wolfwood goes on a mission solo and gets in over his head.
