But Raven caught the plea weaved between his words,
the melancholy energy that was pulsating around him, which was evidently missed by the others. Starfire clasped her hands loosely together and wore a weak smile, clearly still feeling the effects of the probes that weakened her.To be honest, they all were. And externally it seemed Robin wasn’t sharing in thier aches and pains from the device, but Raven was sure that internally his suffering was the most severe of them all.
Then he turned, and stepped outside the collapsing building.
The change was instantaneous.

Despite the fact that Dick came to the Graysons without knowing a lick of any language that the Circus recognized, his parents insisted that his stories of red crystal spires and a shattered planet were simply that, stories. Even though Dick very rarely told Bruce a lie, Bruce followed in their footsteps and would remind Dick that his memories of a sunstone dust ship singing him lullabies were only dreams from an overactive imagination. Eventually Dick fell in line, accepting that his past as Krypton was merely a dream from an abandoned child's imagination. He never would have expected that the truth would have come out after getting strapped to a bomb that led to his, however momentary, death.
Or: Dick's a Kryptonian, though no one believes him until his heritage makes itself quite known.

It was a quiet day, until an alarm blared, warning of suddenly weak or non-existent vitals in one of the Gotham vigilantes. It was a quiet day until Tim and Bruce were informed that Jason had gone after Dick, who had been kidnapped without either of them realizing it. It was a quiet day until the two of them traveled to a small cabin and found Jason, dead on the concrete floor of a bunker beneath the cabin.
Tim can't bring himself to leave the body, even if he knows it's not likely that Jason will come back this time.

“I’m tired, Hood.” He finally admits voice low.
The wind rips through the rooftop again whistling past the two men. Dick looks down at his side, the pain is coming back in full force now that he’s stopped trying to fight it.
“I just want to sleep,” he adds quietly. “Get some actual medical care for once instead of stitching everything on my own. Eat a cheeseburger and drink coffee like a normal freakin’ person.”
Dick can’t stop himself exhaling a laugh at the simplicity of his request, his hands trembling at his sides. “But I can’t. Because someone always needs something from me.”
The anger that’s been stewing beneath his ribs drains out of him as fast as it had come. Leaving him standing there on the rooftop feeling more exhausted than furious.
“I love you guys,” he admits more so to himself, than to Jason. His chest constricting despite his steady breathing visible against the dim sodium lights of the roof. “But I’m only one person.”

“We’re not going out at all,” Donna grumbles, but even she’s getting tired. Dick suspects the man drugged both her and Garth at one point, and now that the adrenaline has worn off, they can feel it.
“You can say that again,” Roy mutters. Roy’s sense of humor is dark at the best of times, but even Dick can hear the weary resignation now. He’ll be damned if anyone is wearily resigned to death but himself.
“Wait a second,” Dick stops them again. He takes a deep breath. He shoves the sound of his parents’ bodies breaking on the ground like twigs, Jason’s cries, his team’s anguished protests, to the back of his mind. He closes his eyes. He breathes in and out. He tries to find a central point to focus on.
Impossibly, he wants Bruce.
OR
Dick Grayson is pushed to the brink, but he finds that he can't fall off unless he has a safety net, even if he constantly fights with said safety net, who is a drama queen and dresses all in black and storms into the medbay like he's on a warpath. Hugs ensue.
