Summary
It’s nothing particularly fancy, no flourishes or elaborate steps, just a gentle sway to and fro along with the tune of the soft music that plays from the house. The notes are just loud enough they can be heard from so far away, even over the crickets and late summertime bugs whose sounds only create a choir to the melody. Arthur knows the songs well, he’s grown up hearing Dutch play it during late evenings to the winding down of the camp. He’s drank to it, told stories over it, and even let it lull him to sleep, but this is the first time he’s danced to it.
It feels like an honor that it gets to be with her.

“Nah, I knew what I was doing. I was fixing to stab him ‘fore you showed up.” Sadie heads for the dresser, plucking out the pins holding her hairstyle in place. “Worst part was having to talk to him for so long.”
“Probably didn’t need to. Could’ve just shown up wearing that little number and had him wrapped right around your finger.” The oil lamp in the corner casts a dark shadow across Arthur’s features.
Or: An undercover mission requires Sadie to get uncomfortably close to the target. The job is less than thrilling, but the pay (and Arthur’s reaction afterwards) might just be worth it.

She watches understanding write itself across Arthur’s face. He considers for a long moment. Runs his eyes over her.
“Alright. We gotta have some ground rules, though. A way to rein it in if it gets too far.”
“I can work with that.”
Or: Sadie has something particular that she wants, and Arthur is really not as bad at playing pretend as he claims to be.

“He mentioned Abigail talking about the changing weather. Something about her being excited about having holidays on their own homestead, and wanting to give us plenty of warning in case we were thinking of running off to Mexico or something. What do you think about it?”
Arthur shrugged. “I guess it’d be nice to get south for a while. Get out of the cold when it comes.”

Summary
The Blackwater heist failed. The van der Lindes are on the run for their lives from the Pinkertons when they are overrun and they find themselves facing the worst case scenario: Dutch is killed. In the chaos that ensues, the van der Linde gang splits from each other in order to survive. Arthur, along with John, Abigail, and Jack, escape to the Ambarino mountains, where they happen to run into the Mrs. Adler. Confused and lost without Dutch, Arthur finds himself heading down a dark and dangerous path in order to find his way in the world.
