“You will grow to resent meeting him,” She says finally as he turns around.
“You’re probably right,” He replies without looking at her.

Summary
Verso Dessendre had one person in his life. His inspiration, his sole purpose for living in this facade of a family; his six year old little sister, Alicia. When a fire took over their home, caused by the Writers, and Alicia was nowhere to be found, everyone assumed she had perished. They had nothing to prove it. But she couldn't have. She was too smart for that, too pure for that. She couldn't have.
And he would spend the rest of his days searching for her.
Gustave Auclair wanted kids oh so desperately, but with his girlfriend Sophie not wanting any, despite his best attempts at convincing her, he respectfully took it as a sign that children were not in the cards for him. That is, until, he finds a small little girl unconcious in the snow, her head resting against the train tracks he had helped to build all those months ago. Verso is convinced that the expeditioners were growing weaker because they were gradually losing their dynamic. Verso hasn’t sensed another alpha strong enough to be a threat in decades. He has also never met a beta or an omega who could match his dynamic.
Enter: Expedition 33— with his headstrong soon-to-present alpha sister, a strong female alpha that makes Verso’s skin crawl, an intriguing beta who keeps trying to sleep with him, and Gustave, who says his dynamic must be broken because he’s never presented and is apparently immune to alpha commands.
Verso accompanies Expedition 33 and, against his better judgment, ends up saving Gustave, the only person Verso has met on his more than six decades on the Continent who can stand the strength of his dynamic and commands— a development which confuses them both and throws a wrench in Verso’s well-laid plans.
