"You were… I'm helping," Bruce said, as if that were obvious.
"Oh, I—" surprise, followed by sudden, jeering laughter that cut off his words. Tears built up at the corners of Edward's eyes and he clenched at his stomach, curling against Bruce's knees, the ones that he'd slid under the man’s body in an attempt to help support his previously boneless frame. "I can't believe this, you're so ridiculously stupid."
Bruce's jaw dropped open as if he'd had a response to this, but nothing came out.

Ben Solo is a cult deprogrammer down on his luck hired to abduct and deprogram Armitage Hux and convince him to leave his doomsday cult and come home. Despite the oddity of the request, Ben accepts. Ben takes Hux to an isolated location and goes to work chipping away at his defenses, although Hux isn't anything like he thought. Hux is self-possessed, confident, and consistently undercuts Ben at every turn, making him start to doubt his own beliefs. As things get stranger, Ben tries to stay on track and keep from getting sucked into Hux's world.
Essentially: Ben is hired to deprogram secret cult leader Hux, but Hux ends up indoctrinating him instead.
