Summary
Neither of them had thought much about moving across the country until Sirius suggested it and Remus had agreed. Not because Remus didn’t like home or was itching for a change, but because he’d follow Sirius anywhere and Portland had just sounded right, the way you can gauge the vibe of a place without ever having been.
Home is a four letter word, just like love or fuck (essential parts of Remus Lupin’s vocabulary) and Remus thinks that home is wherever Sirius ends up, so they pack their things and embark on their next great adventure: conquering the Pacific Northwest.

Remus has always loved music more than anything and he and Sirius stay out late, really late, going to rough punk shows and stumbling home smelling like smoke with bruised faces, bloodied lips, and just enough adrenaline to go around. Lily gets her tongue pierced because she likes to torture her boyfriend, scratch that, fiancée. There’s a lot of love. Things are the way that they should be.
It’s fun until it’s not.
Sirius’s schedule starts to revolve around when he has to be sober, and no one has to know if he shows up on missions hungover, right? Or a little tipsy? Lily gets pregnant at twenty years old and regrets it more than she’s regretted anything- especially when her husband’s parents died last year, and her own dad, and the Death Eaters are targeting Order members’ families these days.
They deserved a few more years of fun but the world just had other plans for them. At some point, they keep waking up but it never feels any better. All they can do is hold out hope.

The universe times it just right.
They meet at a certain stage in life where everything is all impulse and curiosity, where you can get away with anything and maybe a scraped knee or detention to show for it, but it never lasts, it never hurts for longer than a week, at least, depending on what you’ve done.
Maybe it’s because James Potter is too friendly for his own good, always running his mouth. He sets everything in motion, at least.
But Sirius Black has never had real friends before, not like this, and a little brother plus a deranged old house elf don’t count. Even if they both let you win at chess every time you play.
And Peter Pettigrew is used to playing along, and Remus Lupin just wants to share his passion for Muggle rock n' roll with someone who understands, you know?
So they’re young and so it means everything to share a compartment on a train on a warm day in September, in 1971, and the universe got something right because that one day stretches an entire lifetime. And maybe beyond that, too. Maybe all the way to the other side.

Gerard Way sunburns easily and talks too much and has mastered the art of creating paninis in the dining hall and eating them while running to class. He drinks iced coffee when it's below zero outside and carries crystals in his pockets party for comfort and partly because they weigh him down like an anchor that refuses to sink.
Gerard Way finds himself in love during his sophomore year of university with a guy that he sometimes goes bowling with. This guy is named Frank Iero and runs a radio show after hours where he talks in a sexy rough voice about things that can get him into trouble if anyone bothers to listen. But Gerard listens.
Gerard Way can do magic. Lightbulbs shatter when he gets excited and he can walk through a thunderstorm in dry clothes. Yet he's powerless when it comes to Frank, and the relationship he's seeking ends up looking close to impossible from where he's standing. But he's in love, and love is patient and kind and shattered glass, shit like that. Love is something he deserves.
