"Like..." The guy pauses doubtfully. "Antarctica?"
They meet again, a year later, in the warm, summer haze of a Los Angeles cafe. She sees him first. He's quick to follow. (As always.) If this were a fairytale, this is where the story ends.

A new human, inexplicably, shows up on Erid, and Ryland Grace has to remember how to be a good host. Considering he hasn’t seen another human in about a decade, and this human is both distractingly handsome and incredibly traumatized, it’s safe to say that this might be a challenge… especially with Ryland still working through his own issues, even all these years later.

Grace knows he was supposed to be in his house on Erid, Simon knows this new guy cannot possibly be a hallucination, and Ava, upon hearing Grace ramble about theories for how he got there, knows that new guy is Smart. And therein lies the dilemma. He didn’t have to be gentle with others, but he could control himself perfectly. On the other hand, he had to be gentle with Mona, but the sight of her was enough to snap his strings.
Even after months of their strange, tentative relationship, Mona and Wanderer still haven’t gone all the way. She begins to worry if he finds her unappealing, but she couldn’t be more wrong.
