Skinny arbeitet auf dem Schrottplatz, weil ihm sonst keiner in Rocky Beach eine Chance gibt. Die drei Satzzeichen, ähm Fragezeichen, Skinny will sich ja jetzt Mühe geben, haben natürlich schnell wieder einen neuen Fall. Dinge passieren und Skinny wird mit in den Wahnsinn gezogen der entsteht, wenn die drei einen Fall haben. Nur diesmal ist er, mehr oder minder freiwillig, auf der Seite des Gesetzes. Zwischen Arbeit, Fällen und Chaos muss Skinny feststellen, dass die drei vielleicht gar nicht so übel sind, wie er gedacht hat und dass sie vielleicht sogar Freunde werden könnten.

-Mathilda and Titus basically adopt Skinny (against his will)

The bus got him to a small port, mostly private, and Justus followed his instincts to the “Blaubär II”, a big bellied, green three mast sailboat with fairy lights strung across its deck.
"Hiya! Over here! Justus, man, you're a sight for sore eyes! Bring it in!"
And there he was: Jeffrey was sporting a beat-up yellow windbreaker and shorts even though it was very cold, too cold even for Justus who was usually the last to ditch his trusty cargo pants for proper jeans in winter. He had filled out a bit, gained substance and muscle and impossibly enough even more height and his hair was as wind swept as ever. He appeared to Justus impossibly effortless and impossibly tall and Justus felt ridiculous when he greeted him with a hug.-----------------------------------------------

The camera roars to life with a startling sputter, the image flickering in and out of existence until it finally sharpens, out of focus and way too close. The face of a young boy fills the screen. There´s a concerned frown on his lips and his eyebrows are drawn together. Slowly, as he fiddles with the camera, the image sharpens.
He did not adjust the ISO well and through the greyscale of the super 8 film his blonde hair melts into the paleness of the clouded sky, leaving him looking a little funny, almost bald.
“Is this gonna take any longer, Bob? We have to be at the house by nightfall.”

One of the first DBH fan comics I came across, and probably the most impactful one for me to date.
This is the work that made me actually want to be a creator again. Seeing how a fan-work can capture the essence of the original so respectfully, at the same time giving a distinct flavour which complements instead of going against canon.
By the time I finished reading this, I too, adore you Gavin Reed. 💙
And thanks to this, it'll be difficult for me to imagine any other version of Nines aside from the one with this personality and stubble. Hahahahah. -
