For most of Elendil's life, the word 'elf' had been filled with awe, so much so he struggles to ever imagine them as anything but the mythical figures of old.
The proof that he'd been wrong stands before him now.
“What was his name? It has been many years since I last studied on my ancestor.”
A smile brightens her face, blinding as he imagines the light of the Undying Lands must be.
“Elrond,” The word is filled with emotion, said with the utmost adoration, “His name is Elrond.”

Summary
As much as Elrond might fear the rings, Galadriel has never been more sure of her own beliefs. He might be frustrated at her lack of understanding but that is merely because he can't feel what she does – that there is no trace of Sauron in the rings, because they hum and sing of Elrond himself.
He has more than proven the strength of his distrust, however. That fall, that jump, still haunts her and will do so forevermore.
The fear of having lost something infinitely precious.

Summary
It could not last but it hadn't seemed to matter, not in the beginning.
When this ends, it will have been worth it, Galadriel thought then, already aware of the inevitable, and she's startled to find that she'd been right, after all.
There is no future in which they are together but their past is filled with them – that shining thread, only remaining proof of who they've been. How much of her rests in Elrond's palm, how much of him is wrapped around her fingers.
How much was theirs to keep.

Summary
Elrond finds her by one of the countless secluded cliffs, the only places of true privacy in Lindon that allow her to gaze out to the sea. She'd thought he might take longer to join her, swept up by one duty after the other in service of the High King.
Everyone has a role to play, in this vast world, and theirs inevitably work to keep them separated.
When the nights are cold, she'll think of Elrond and find the strength to keep going – driven forward by the desire to come home, at last, and stay.
In the meantime, they take what they can get.

Summary
The live music is engaging enough that she can stare straight ahead, but not so engaging to stop her leg somehow moving sideways.
Galadriel doesn’t really remember sliding her leg that way, but the solidity of Elrond's leg against hers is impossible to ignore. Her heart races, and sweat trickles slowly down her back, though the room hadn’t felt particularly hot a few moments before.
When the song stops, Galadriel applauds as heartily as anyone. But still, before the applause dies down and the next song can begin, she stands and rushes from the room.
Her place is beside her beloved Celeborn.
