Draic and Danse have a sweet, playful and caring relationship, but it's also difficult, demanding and stressful on both of them. Danse is a strong, confident man, but he has difficulty expressing himself. He's rather shy and becomes flustered quite easily around Draic and his constant need to express his love to Danse in every way he wishes to; verbally, emotionally, and physically. This story is about the relationship they begin together after Paladin Danse is no longer a Paladin and needs to adjust to regular civilian life, while Draic tries his best to protect him from the Brotherhood along the way.

Summary
A figure crests the edge of the house. Stiles squints in the sparse light of the half-moon, and is shocked when he sees that it’s Derek.
“What are you doing?” Stiles asks quietly.
Derek finishes climbing up onto the roof in one graceful swoop, and then he crosses the slanted surface quickly.
“This is dangerous,” Derek greets as he takes the spot beside Stiles. “You could fall and break your neck.”
Stiles has trouble dealing with the after effects of the nogitsune, and Derek finds him sitting on his roof.

He doesn’t mean to listen in to Stiles’ conversation, but Stiles is close and never quite learned the art of subtlety. He has one hand pressed against the back of the jeep, putting all his weight against it. Like maybe it could hold him up. Like he doesn’t trust his own legs. “Yeah, Dad. Scott’s got my back. I’ll....” he trails off like he was going to lie and thought better of it. “I’m working on it.... Yeah. I’ll call.... Love you.”
He runs his fingers through his hair as Scott makes his way to the passenger seat. Stiles looks tired, still. Worn out and stretched thin. “You want me to drive?” Scott asks.
“I got it,” Stiles says, like it’s the one thing he’s sure of. “I got it.”

“I don’t condone drinking and driving,” Stiles watches a hopeful grin tug up on Derek’s mouth.
“I’ve only had one beer and a few sips,” Derek finally glances up to roll his eyes and Stiles.
“Still. It’s just the concept of it.” Stiles can feel himself grin at Derek, but he quickly diverts his eyes, “I think I should stay. Y’know, to avoid breaking the law.”

Stiles and Scott embark on a road trip together. This isn't a metaphor (except for how it is.)
“It’s okay, I’m good.”
“Yeah, you’re the best,” Scott replies automatically.
It’s one of their stock phrases, something they’ve said since childhood --- as natural to them as their ability to communicate through eyebrow-raises, their super-secret handshake and their unending loyalty to one another, but Stiles thought they’d retired it when they were fifteen, so he glances at Scott quickly.
“Sometimes I think we’ve forgotten how to be us and then you say something, or look at me a certain way, and it all comes back.”
