Summary
It’s 1989, the summer before the party splits off for college. Mike’s campaign is long enough to last the whole summer, and a widely known rule within the players is that they must force Mike to make up an NPC for someone to flirt with at least once per session. Lucas has taken advantage of this rule more than once just to annoy Mike, but almost everyone has one or multiple personalized NPCs already. Except Will.
Will has been anticipating having to join in on the fun, considering this might be the last full campaign with the entire friend group. He’s just been nervous… that is, until Lucas points out this fact to the whole table and begs him to go for it to “annoy Mike”. Will jumps on the opportunity and surprises everyone, especially the supposedly completely put together DM who now has to look Will in the eyes and flirt with him.
Ohhh boy…

Summary
Despite having dreamt of starting a brand new life in big apple of NYC, Will Byers couldn’t help but feel like life was becoming too plain without a little adventure like back in Hawkins.
Being on the verge of death (by boredom) Will decides to dig through his kitchen only to find a folder of old DND things from childhood. Inside lay a tattered page with a spell… and so he read it aloud.
Apparently the universe decided it wanted to be kind to Will (for once in his life) and a sudden light tore open in the comfort of his own kitchen to reveal none other than… Mike the Brave.

According to a divine prophecy, Mike and his party have a year to defeat Vecna before the Undying King fulfills his mission of destroying the world and killing everyone on it. So, no pressure.
On top of this, Mike has been given his own prophecy which states that, during the final battle with Vecna, he would meet the person he was destined to fall in love with- His soulmate. Except there was one problem with this:

He stares at the name. The parentheses. The distance barked right into it. He added that after college, after Will moved west and Mike stayed put, it became important, apparently, to specify where Will was in relation to him. As if he could ever forget.
OR: It's 1996 and Mike is depressed and bisexual (not that he knows) and alone, and also is an accountant. But it's New York. And everyone's unhappy in New York. That's what New York is!!!! And for all the times Mike said he didn't want to end up like his father, he unfortunately has in this. Sorry to that man. But also probably canon too.

Everything changes at Stacey's party between Mike and Will, who share more than just a first kiss. But by morning, Mike has forgotten their special night. Will, thinking Mike is taking the easy route and pretending their night hadn't happened, moves to New York and packs his forever crush in hopes he can move on. Mike keeps lying over and over, like it's the only thing he knows how to do anymore. Seriously, if there were a challenge for liar of the year, he'd place first without even trying. Half the time, he's not even sure he remembers how to tell the truth anymore—or which version of it is supposed to be it.
"A bit?" Lucas scoffs. "Will doesn't even want to be near you, Mike."

Spiderman’s fingers press a little firmly into Mike’s shirt. "Just – hang on!"
"What do you mean just hang – was that a pun," Mike sputters, clutching onto Spiderman for dear life as they swing through the city, and he can hear the superhero laugh through the racing wind in his ears, the rumble of it under Mike’s arm wrapped around his middle.
In a city of superheroes, Mike keeps running into Spiderman, much to his dismay.
