Summary
Desmond fulfilled his destiny, as was foretold. He lived four different lifetimes, give or take a few, and just wanted some damned rest, away from responsibility and the weight of the world on his shoulders. What does he get instead? A new world to save and a fantastical evil he was in no way prepared for. An Assassin works in the shadows, but Desmond is raised up as the figurehead of a religion he doesn't believe in, to save a world not his own, and be the leader of an army. Kaidan focuses on survival. He focuses on Joker. The fact that someone's depending on him to get them out of this alive. He doesn't think of the piles of rocks outside their shelter. He doesn't think about the collection of dog tags he's put in a bag. He doesn't think about the one rock pile and the broken helmet sitting on top of it. He can't, or he just might break.
Also known as, what if Kaidan and Joker crashed on Alchera with Shepard and how the course of the universe is changed for the better.
